Of course Ned is a very skilled player offline he’s ranked 37th on the PGR
Regardless of comeback mechanics, Armadillo has a serious ability to stay confident under pressure, he never caves or gives up, often bringing ned to potential reverse 3 stock situations.
This was the most unexpected person to qualify considering Lucario isn't that great, but God damn Armadillo did the impossible. Big congrats to him
He’s been one of the best Lucario players since a bit earlier this year I’m still a bit surprised he manage to qualify but all to him for making this character work can’t wait to watch more of him

great play to Armadillo but its always good to keep in mind character dynamics do shift in an Online environment as compared to Offline. Nevertheless, Armadillo played this really really well, especially calling out alot of Ned's laggier options with shorthop falling backair.
Holy fuck, what a great set. Great plays all around and that comeback at the end was absurd.
This is so sad. Armadillo played out of his mind, but Ned was definitely a *correct* input away from winning.

Love watching Armadillo, he makes these hard-by-game design neutral b set ups actually useful. I’m okay at it, but he doesn’t use it excessively; very precise, people figure out what I’m doing
@ ~ 9:55 when ned loses his stock while switching pokemon, he may have survived if he airdodged away from the blast zone then waited a few frames before switching. when you do a special move *too close to the blast zone, your knockback momentum is continued and you get carried into the blast zone without being able to di.

Most people don’t realize that he had to go from top 96 losers to qualify for this after losing to NickC.

I kept telling people Lucario isnt low tier. A patient and precise Lucario is scary! Prolly the only 2 low tiers in this game are mac and ganon

Tsu literally had to drop him as his main because he's such a high risk medium reward character. It's unfortunate but Lucario IS very much low tier, there are a bunch of other characters that can utilize comeback mechanics without sacrificing early game strength (Sephiroth, Terry, *JOKER*).
@@zer0hak I really think Armadillo is better than Tsu. Tsu relies too much on the aura gimmick.
@@minixlemonade2335 Tsu concocted strings at low aura all the time. He was an extremely smart Lucario player. Regardless of who is better at playing (not disagreeing if Armadillo is better), Tsu made his Smash career maining Lucario and felt the need to quit Lucario because he needed to main others to make profit from his gameplay investment in Smash. If a player felt who knew all the frame data, safe plays, etc. felt the need to quit a character because they needed to make a living, it seems like a clear sign that the character is weak.
Now, I don't mind Lucario being weak. Not every character needs to be good, it's a party game after all. I've only played a few tournaments, but no one could convince me Lucario isn't bad, it's really just that Lucario is not a solid choice to win tourneys.
This was a great set to watch rip Ned misinputting game 5 but shoutouts to Armadillo a great lucario with a great run, best of luck to Ned in LCQ though b/c losing a qualifier match b/c of that is kind of sad also b/c he’s also a great player that gave us a great qualifier set to watch :]

At 8:48 the Lucario cancels aura sphere into a grab, I have no idea how he did that I have only ever been able to cancel it with a jump, I know Lucario could cancel his Aura Sphere in smash 4 as well, could someone please possibly explain how he did it? I’m trying to learn Lucario.

This set is a good argument for why we need better controls. It was Ned's game to win but he did a misinput. Macros, lack of freedom when it comes to where you want your buttons etc... all weird things that make smash much harder to play then it should be imo.
For starters, we should be able to disable flick smashes entirely so we can do tilts by just moving the left stick in a direction and pressing A (and not being punished for trying to do it on reaction).

Lucario was never a low tier character just saying. I sub him. Plus us Lucario mains know he really only has like 4-5 losing MU’s with & without the aura. Other than that, he can stay pretty even with almost every top tier (including Pikachu)

Not to mention, the amount of people who could qualify despite the east having SO. MANY. PLAYERS. Being such a small number is absurd. They shouldve doubled it or separate the region so people in 17 states and another frigging country wouldn't have to play together in a bloodbath

its neat that the online lucario qualified and stuff but its too bad it had to be in a way where its obvious he deserved to lose and took away us having a cool player qualify. but "good stuff" to him for getting it to game 5 i guess even tho he obviously only won because of Wi-Fi eating his opponents inputs.
Moronic take, inputs being eaten aren't exclusive to Ned. The Lucario had to do a lot of his inputs and B reverses on wifi where he easily can misinput and has. Both of them were fighting the game's controls and the Lucario managed to win.
