Funeral trains like this one remind me of those videos and photos of the 1950s when steam locomotives were retired and then taken to deadlines to be scrapped (or rescued by preservationists if they were lucky enough). And I have a feeling that these diesels will meet that same fate.
1. No freakin' waaaaayyyy!!!! 2. I was already late for work when the crossing gates came down. Anyone hiring? 3. The fire truck responding to a house fire finally gave up and turned around back to the station. 4. Domino's Pizza delivery is going to pay dearly for this. 5. My wife gave birth to twins while we were waiting for the train to pass. Their names are Clikity and Clak.
There were approximately 250 new locomotive bought by the 7 Class 1 railroads in 2020. The idea they are scrapping 100’s of locomotives is ludicrous. Old engines are worth @ $200,000 and used until they drop. The big Class 1 roads each have about 3000 parked. This train is REMARKABLE! 28 x 3.5 miles? Really big box cars, very long train. About 1/3 are now AC, considered more economic. The old units are reconditioned. They don’t like tossing em. Probably 300/year max.I’ll add more when I get back. I’ve got to run 2 errands. This train will pass in another 20-30 min. Amazing. Truly amazing. With 1 DPU, I’ll bet all 28 are alive. The train is heavy and loaded… quiet. This is probably a test train. It is not ordinary.💰‼️
Not as heavy as you would think. Only the AC units were running. The rest dead and drained. Even with all cars loaded it’s still around .6hp/t and by cn standards that’s still too much.
I find that mind boggling. I never knew there was such a thing. That train was carrying freight tho? And those bullets, some looked brand new. I’m still watching and am flabbergasted.
Hopefully shortlines will give them a new lease on life. Just like a bunch of SD60M locomotives Watco recently purchased from Union Pacific. Hard to see any of these powerhouses just get scrapped or parted out.
That was the coolest long freight train I've ever seen! It was phenomenal that it had 28 locomotives hauling that very long freight train! He was really a good freight! He Was A Good Freight! What identification is that train symbol? He Was Phenomenal!
That is the crap crossing bell 🔔 the fake e-bell. I never did like them. They have a very irritating sound. I would love to replace them all with the old school mechanical bells.
I just tried to calculate the length of this train and it’s over 16,000 feet! It is definitely some type of test train. I’ve never seen a train with all super boxcars (100ft) Where was this train, and what RR?
@@stephaniemiller5455 They put what will be scrapped behind pulling locomotives, and if there is regular freight they´ll put it behind. So you have the "pullers", the scrap and regular freight at the end. Scrap means equipment sold to a scrapper to be cut up. But locomotives can also been sold to a dealer for refurbishing, for keeping spare parts but ultimately they all will finish in big scrap pile.
Save the locomotives. Scrap all of the ego hauling useless prickup trucks that are harassing society. To hell with car centric idiocy. Most of CN and BC Rail dash 8s have either been sold for scrap or in storage a few are still left. BC Rail Dash 9s and CN Dash 9s are still with us.

Sad to see the black barns, the zebra barns and the BCRAIL barns go!
Never mind the long line of locomotives....that has to be the longest train I’ve ever seen! Easily 3 miles long!!!
It was a funeral train that brought all the "dead" locomotives to Port Robinson.
@@bigctrainproductions728 He knows. He’s just saying it’s insanely long. And it is
I love the view / camera angle Great sound also but a sad ending for some great locomotives!

In Canada we buy every sd40 series we can them old girls are direct power

i can’t even imagine how much that entire train weighs with those extra locomotives
Their are some still sitting in Wpg the cowls all ex BCR, A couple of GMD1's and more.
I'm sure a lot of them will see life on shortline railways.
Just think if all the doors to the boxcars were open. How many hobos would love to ride that train?
Hopefully shortlines will give them a new lease on life. Just like a bunch of SD60M locomotives Watco recently purchased from Union Pacific. Hard to see any of these powerhouses just get scrapped or parted out.
37 locomotives seems like overkill for one train. Must have been a heavy load. Never did see the body. RIP 🙏
It was in their memory we had a runaway kill 3 men im a trucker it was a horrific wreck near the spiral tunnels
When they say funeral train they're referring to the locomotives that are going to the scrap yard. And most of those locomotives are not even running!
Wow up to 7 miles of distance, the longest running train in the world.
Rip c40ms , had a good life

Only three units were running. 3245, 3259 and 3084. The rest were all dead and drained.
I feel sorry for anyone who had to sit at that crossing for 17 minutes! And they wonder why people try to play beat the train.
I Like those barn units
I hate to be the conductor on that train if a knuckle broke
That’s a lot of Old Locomotives. Awesome video btw. :D
Thanks man.
@@bigctrainproductions728 Np. :D
Those cowls would be 30/1 yrs old
Draper tappers off for scrapping
Great video!

Beautiful train like and subscribed from Czech Republic 🙂👍👍👍👍
How Many cars it pulls that freight train ??
Are they really scrapping 32455? I somehow doubt tjay
3245 and 3259 are not being scrapped.

British Columbia Canada...trust us we know how to get over these rockies...and you need lots power for that.
Well 89' boxcars. Last one i´ve seen was in Montréal in about 2019. Tjey were used to carry high volume low weight items.
What does that " S " letter written on fuel tanks mean ? Scrap ?
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THAT GREEN S STANDS FOR ON THESE LOCOMOTIVES?
What happened to them especially the BC ones
Scrapped or sold to private buyers
I suspect the auto parts cars are going to scrap as well.
Wow, I would hate to have been at a grade crossing. Maybe some of those scrap units should have been activated.
actually there was a grade crossing about 25 feet to my left and it definitely snarled traffic even in the rural area that I was
Not the c40-8ms!
How come this funeral train was hauling freight cars?
Everything was dead with un uncertain future. Well box surely meeted the torch.
Proof that anything can happen
@@danielfantino1714So, the dead locomotives are coupled up to the freight cars to make it a long funeral freight train.

It so long but there áre longer trains. It only pulls 137 cars. I counted them
These are all 100 ft boxcars. Unusually long train.

Yup, I agree! More trains and fewer cars and trucks. Less pollution too.
Yeah. Okay grandpa.
