We followed their instructions, but used grapeseed oil instead of seasoning wax. Here's the link: www.otzigear.com/pages/care-and-seasoning-instructions
I like the OTZI. I may go for the larger model. Cooking bread intersts me. Based on how you cooked the brownies, I guess I could cook some beer bread. Or skillet corn bread. With rolling blackouts possible now and into the future, this seems to be a good option. In addition, I have a Kelly Kettle. Both would be complimentary for emergency home use. Free firewood abounds.
Oh yeah, you can do all of that and more! We have an awesome focaccia recipe as well as a killer cornbread, freedominacan1957.blogspot.com/2022/05/gourmet-camp-cooking-baking-compilation.html. We are cooking on the 4-6 person Otzi Flame model. It only comes in the "Hybrid Alloy" material - not the carbon steel. It's been very durable and weather resistant. Love it!
You know, we've been experiencing that same thing. Here's what I'm going to experiment with: There needs to be a little bit of space between the two plates that come down together to form the V. I'm going to put some small pebbles in between those to create some more air space. Experiment with that, and let us know how it works. The bigger model has all kinds of air space and so it isn't a problem. Good luck and I'll try to reach out to the company and see what they suggest as well, thanks for reaching out.
@@roadtripper5553 Let us know how that works, and I'll also mess with it and let you know what luck we have. It's a good product, just needs some tweaking.

What size Dutch oven is that?
It's an 8 quart Lodge! Had this thing for about 20 years, and should easily outlast me!
