    Dude, you 1st brought me to your channel with "My RGB Apparentment (explained)" then I saw your UPDATE and I had to hit SUBSCRIBE! I honestly can't wait to see more content! Super excited to see more videos!! & Great subtle humor Lmao throughout. I hope you get a lot more subscribers and sponsors, you definitely have a lot of potential on this channel, remember a smooth edit is what will keep your viewers eye for the duration of the video (I've learned this from Potato Jet / RUclipsr) and you've done that very well. I too love the RGB lifestyle and you've inspired me to start my lighting setups. BTW been using 5&Below RGB strips LMAO had to start somewhere right.. I would love to see a video on your background whether it be about if you do graphic design or visual effects or lighting gear for customers. Awsome logo setup with the RGB can't wait for that video. Take care brotha!

    • @Coltography
      @Coltography  4 года назад +1

      Thank you! As far as I know, all LED strips should be dimmable... especially if they are 12volt DC. They may say "non dimmable" on the package, implying you can't plug them into a dimmer switch, which is true. It's like as if you plugged a phone charger into a dimmer, it just won't work.

    So are the LEDs on your 3D printer just hooked up to the wifi controller and not the printer? Or are they hooked up to both somehow? I added LED strips to both my printers, and both are set up as status indicators, eg goes from blue to red when heating up, white while printing, green when finished.
    Ultimately it's just a matter of preference for sure. I keep my printers in a separate room from my PC setup and they both have silent stepper drivers on them, but I am able to see the green glow down the hall when a print finishes, so for me the status LEDs are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. I can definitely see how that functionality might not really add much for some people though.
    I'm also not familiar with Creality printers in general and how easy it may or may not be to add status LEDs, as both my printers were kits.
    Not trying to bash anything by any means, just curious as to your thought process on that. I've been on a bit of an RGB kick lately, adding LED strips and bulbs wherever I can, so I've really enjoyed checking out your videos/setup. After seeing your LED logo video last night, I think that may be the next type of project I attempt, haha.

    Quick question how many rolls of rgb lights can be plugged in to one power supply. Given that some of these rgb lights come with two rolls and one power supply would it mess up or possibly cause damage if say I would grab and extra roll of lights from another box and add it to a power supply that already has two rolls. Or should I split them up into different power supplies after a certain amount of feet? Not sure if I make sense but please correct me if I don’t.

      Pricing and ability to customize better, with the hue stuff it would cost like 5-6x as much. I like to keep it cheap as possible. Also the hue stuff is kind of properietery and harder to customize if you want to beef up power supply or strip length etc

    If i have a RGBW or RGBWW led :

    2) on the RGBW Remote i can turn on/off and dim the RGB and White light separately, how it will work on the app and does I be able to control both lights with google assistant?

    • @Coltography
      @Coltography  4 года назад +1

      Hey, the controller I use here has a warm/cold white terminal for that. In the app, long tap the controller and select change remote type or whatever. Then change to rgbww or rgbcct which will utilize those white terminals. In Google / Alexa just say warm or bright white and it will go white or warm white depending on what you select. You can also just run a roll of white LEDs and hook up the positive to + on the controller and negative to the W terminal and use that along RGB led strips. Hope that helps

    Could you please explain the advantage of using a different wi-fi controller versus using the one that comes with the light strip seen @0:47. Seems like a hassle to use a different controller which is why I'm asking, thank you!

    • @Coltography
      @Coltography  4 года назад

      Hey Brian,
      The other controller only had a small remote control, like a tv remote. It won't connect to wifi etc, which is why I switched it out. You can buy kits with wifi controllers now that don't need wire cutting etc

    Quick question. So I have a 7 little window i want to light up. One strip is probably enough light strip but it only comes with one power supply. So I take it I have to find 6 more power supplys and get 7 wifi connectors?

    • @Coltography

      Try using a pin to reset the wifi controller and do it again. You'll need to hold the pin in the hole for a few seconds and then search for the network again

    How often do you find yourself replacing your RGB LED strips? Do they fail often? I was thinking about the cheaper ones for my strips, then getting Phillips Hue or LIFX for the bulbs.

    • @Coltography
      @Coltography  4 года назад +1

      Only had them fail due to my own abuse, bending the wrong way or using them outside etc. I have had issues with addressable strips though since they have their own IC and everything, but that's a bit different. If you're looking for white/warm white with RGB just get cheap ones, Philips is a huge rip off

      @@ColtographyThanks for the reply, man! I was thinking the same about the RGB strips. Do you at least recommend their bulbs for light fixtures and ceilings?

    These are the ones that even without the automated stuff you added are compatible with voice and WiFi, so would I have to buy these or could I buy cheap ones and when I automate it would it be able to react to sound since it is connected to the magic home app?

    • @Coltography
      @Coltography  4 года назад

      You can buy cheap strips and use with that controller, yes, and add 5-6 rolls to it if you have bit enough power supply

    Does this setup of LED lights and Wifi controller work with Homekit/Siri/Shortcuts of the iOS, is there any way you can do a video? I would love to purchase but want to make sure it works before I buy it all.

    • @Coltography
      @Coltography  4 года назад

      It works but you have to use home bridge or something, if you google magic home app + homekit you can find out more. I don't use apple stuff so can't really make a video

    Coltagraphy can you use that app to create patterns with your led strips? And can you create recorded "shows" with multiple zones that play simultaneously?? Thanks!

    • @Coltography
      @Coltography  4 года назад +1

      Yes, but the zones would all need their own controller or the entire strip will just do the same thing. You can set up basic animations and customize it though

    each 5m strip need 12V 5A 60W so 15m of led strip need 12V 15A 180W.
    You think this device can handle this?
