      Yeah but the clip is still at 120 (and more) fps/hz. So, the clip still seems smoother.
      It's the same thing with FPS and Hz on a normal monitor .
      Even if your screen/monitor can only output at a certain refresh rate, it would still benefit from higher fps because of the updated information.
      The newer information from the latest frame would be shown on the next Hz rather than the frame that would've been shown at a lower FPS.

    It's almost impossible to notice the difference between 120 and 144 hz, as that's only a few ms and a few extra frames (6 more frames per reaction time (250 ms), though it's a bit better than this for pros). Most pros will struggle with that tiny jump, which is akin to 240 to 360 hz jump -- though this jump will be better and a lot smoother. Pointless for non-pros.
    Here is a quick breakdown without getting too technical about all the specs/figures/frame-generations, etc.
    30-60 hz: notable difference for average gamer on first-person shooters, etc. Tiny jump for typical gaming, though it is much smoother, which indirectly aids in gameplay. Pros will notice a massive difference, however. This is also one of the biggest jumps you will find. Jumps get smaller, not bigger (unless jumping directly from 30). Interesting, this only adds 7 frames per reaction time (average at 250 ms), but this makes the biggest standard difference because it massively cuts down the time to frame-generation. More frames means more smoothness, but you cannot always use those frames for raw gameplay as the time is too small for your reaction times.
    30-120+ hz: The biggest possible jump, extremely notable even for non-pros on random games, more so simracing.
    60-120 hz: Fairly big jump, but not as good as 30-60, which means it's pretty pointless for typical gaming and non-pros, unless you're playing simracing and/or high-level first-person shooters. The real cut-off point for average gaming is about 75 hz, as it happens.
    60-144 hz: A big jump, around equal to 30-60. So, that means, it's the same kind of improvement, though this offers more frames, so it will be much smoother, the time to frame-generation is tiny, and all animation is smooth at this point (and most games are made for 60 hz, anyway), all of this meaning that it's a tiny jump for non-pros or non-first-person shooters. The max for typical gaming is about 75, and the max for simracing is about 120 hz (unless a pro). The max for typical first-person shooters is about 144 unless you're a pro.
    60-240 hz: About the same as 30-120. One of the biggest jumps, but not as big as some of the others, as it turns out. It's also pointless for non-pros/non-first-person shooters, because the gameplay is too slow to use it, and your reaction times are not good enough to use it. But, again, 240 hz will be extremely smooth and life-like, though it won't directly help much with raw gameplay over 144 hz (but it will still be better than 60 hz for non-pros, you just don't need post-144 hz). If you watch the 1000 FPS slowed-down Counter Strike footage, you see that 144 hz is very close to 240, and that 240 is akin to real life which makes post-240 hz/FPS pointless.
    240-360 hz: A tiny jump, equal to about 120-144 hz, only used by pros and first-person shooters. Pretty pointless given that games are really only made for 60 hz and native 360 hz doesn't really exist yet. Test subjects report tiny jump. And, sinceit's post-240 hz, which is akin to real-life motion, it means 360 hz won't be much faster or smoother to the naked eye for most people, anyway. Naturally, this makes post-360 hz completely pointless on current software/hardware, and will only be useful in the far-future when games are made natively at 240 hz, and they become really cutting-edge, pro-level, and beyond fast-paced. You really only need 240 hz for pros and VR (assuming equal or greater FPS). Tests show that humans cannot detect post-240 FPS, for example, as it just becomes 'real-life motion' to the naked eye. But, it will still prove useful for certain things and games and settings. But, naturally, not worth the cost, and only shows a tiny improvement.
    P.S. 30 hz is 33.3 ms per frame-generation, 60 hz is 16.6 ms, and 75 hz is 13.3 ms. That's why 30-60 is such a large jump, though still not needed for Nintendo type games. 75 hz is a cut-off point for this very reason: it takes a human 13.3 ms to 'see' an entire image, according to MIT testing. This means, at 90+ hz, you cannot even see the entire frame, but you can see the smoothness of the collection of frames, and can see have enough time for micro-adjustments, which is why 90+ hz is a must for pros, and rapid games like Call of Duty. At 120 hz, you are around the cut-off point for the average brain to even notice anything (8 ms). That's why 120 hz is the cut-off point for simracing, and other gaming. It's impossible for the average gamer to even tell the difference between 1 and 8 ms, though pros can. That's why the response time of modern TVs and monitors is anywhere from 1 to 8 ms. You only need 2-5 ms response time on monitors, though pros opt for 1 ms for 240 hz and max output. You don't even need 1 ms response time monitors (and the brain cannot process sub-1 ms). In theory, this means the brain can deal with 1000 FPS/hz at max (equal to 1 ms of time in frame-generation), as this is how long it takes for your myelinated nerves to fire. But, for standard gameplay, 240 hz is the limit currently as it's akin to real-life motion, and most games are innately limited to 60 hz animation. There is much more to say, but the point is that post-240 hz is useless for non-pros, and for 90% of games.

    • @TheClassicWorld
      @TheClassicWorld 2 года назад +7

      240 to 360 would NEVER be a big difference unless you're a pro and/or playing first-person shooters. It's impossible for you to notice as an average gamer.
      It's a proven fact that people cannot really detect post-240 hz/FPS according to scientific testing and studies, and that 240 range is akin to 'real-life motion' (as proven via the 1000 FPS slowed-down Counter Strike footage), which makes post-240 pretty pointless for most gaming. Further, early test subjects reported that there was a slight improvement between 240 and 360, but not major. One of the reasons is that the time to new frame-generation is so small with 360 hz that you cannot process it and use it, even most pros would struggle to use 360 hz. There are many extra frames, though, so 360 would most likely look slightly smoother across gameplay (many frames). It's like the difference between 4k and 8k on a standard screen size: pretty much no difference at all for 90% of the game. Not worth the cost, and pointless for most games/gamers.
