    Thanks for the info. I went to the Honda dealer yesterday to get dual pump fluid for my Element. When I got home noticed they gave me Acura dpsf. I did some research and found out they are the same. Would have been nice if the parts guy would have told me. I tried calling but was on hold forever and gave up. Thanks again for verifying.

    Someone on the MDX forum sent samples of each to Blackstone labs. The results were identical. They are exactly the same thing. They matched viscosity, flashpoint, and additives.

    When I had to change the rear diff fluid for the first time on our 2001 CRV I was confused by the name of the fluid I kept wondering why you'd need pump fluid for a rear end. So it can be confusing. Good video Dave! Happy holidays!

    The SH-AWD rear differential is a unique piece of machinery. Does anyone here still run full synthetic ATF in their Honda SH-AWD rear differential?? I think this mysterious Dual Pump Fluid is sort of like a money grab for Honda

    BIG DOG - I'm still skeptical that these two fluids are EXACTLY the same. A great follow up video would be to pour some of each into separate clear containers and compare color and smell. I've heard they are mostly interchangeable and compatible, but the Acura DPSF is engineered more specifically for the SH-AWD systems.

    • @slothypunk
      @slothypunk Год назад +1

      Then don't put in your vehicle if you are skeptical, It is that easy! As for me and probably the rest, I put it in since it is recommended by Honda service dept in my local area and it carry me 100k and up, so you do you!

      @@slothypunk They are the same spec other then the bottle. A good friend of mine works in the Honda Parts Dept and their internal notes call out that these two fluids are one in the same. Thanks for putting this together and helping the do it yourselfers on this point.

      @@papajo7316 thanks for follow up. That one is easy. How about this, atf dw1 and hevf type 1 fluid, are they the same? The last year Honda hybrid seems to call for atf, but this year suddenly changed to hevf

      I’m currently wondering if we can run a high quality thicker CST ATF in the rear diff as they once called for ATF, then the DPSF and then the older differentials should be filled with the new stuff. So…. Sounds like a money grab this mysterious DPSF… OEM fluids are typically NOT the highest level of fluid available Vs aftermarket. Just my 0.02. But then every single mechanic says use only oem because in the past that was the culture…

    Part 1: one digit is different, so they’re different.
    Part 2: one digit is different, but they’re the same.
    Part 3 (missing): this evidence shows they’re the same.
