I realized I was old about 7 years ago when I had to look up what "dabbing" meant. Matara's "2004 was 20 years ago" also hit me back when my favorite childhood Saturday morning cartoon had its 25th anniversary in 2021.
I got hit with it in Space Station 13/4, where it described me as "Middle Aged" using my actual age.
When you can show your age by saying the country you were born in no longer exists.

While i understand it in principle realistically the most distance the event the less people there are around to remember it. The 90s kids are really the only generation left that will know of both a pre and post 9/11 world. Everyone born after you won't question things about the world they live in, why should they. From the newer gens perspective that's just how its always been.
