Lol because government polices are geared towards preventing wealth and any company “becoming too big and influential.” They can’t invest or acquire without having off shore companies because the government won’t allow them to transfer such a large sum without lengthy procedures which could take years. Then the government can pretend that there’s an issue with the books, even when it’s all clean. You forget that the government officials, at times, want bribery, PM position or business contacts so they try to concoct a problem when there is none. You cannot wait 5 years for an acquisition abroad, once the deal and negotiations are settled. You want to buy then and there because the price and economy will change and you’ll have to re-negotiate accordingly.
In the old days, most business cannot survive in a corrupt government. Especially in Asia. So the government is to blame also. Singapore is more of an exception.
