And your eyes... A loooooooong time ago I was sanding a friend's dresser by HAND and a tiny microscopic spec of dust got in my eye which caused my whole eye to swell shut. I had to go to the eye doctor to have it removed and now have a tiny scar on my eye. With all the layers on that vanity, you can't afford to be out of commission. 😉
@@rubyklumpenhower9491 I was thinking the same. We’ll see how it looks in the end but I def think they should have gone with a stain just slightly darker than the original wood. We also don’t have to live in that house so we don’t really have to like it 🤷🏽♀️
Two guys murdering their hand built furniture with stain, on top of their newly laid marble floor 😂 Understandable that Benoit brought in the corpse dissolver!
Philip - Measure twice! And use a level tool. Every time you start drilling without measuring I get so anxious. You have such a beautiful house and work so hard, that you should not ruin it by not measuring. Remember the cabinets in your laundry room? Didn't you put on the handles unevenly? Please be careful!!
I think this is the first time I’ve actually not found Philips diy skills charming. Finishing details are what makes or breaks a project and watching him doing stuff without reading instructions or just hanging handles by eye measurements would drive me crazy. Taking that extra time to make something perfect isn’t that hard Philip.
Well said. Philipp can be so slapdash. It is not amusing to watch all the great work the other tradesmen do and Anna's careful wallpapering, and then it's bodged with poorly finished details. Thank goodness Anna was able to rescue the cupboard.
I was pretty impressed with that vase! I think the colour looks great in the kitchen! I really love the blue bedroom. That colour is so calming and Anna’s wallpaper looks amazing. The the proportions of the handles work well.
It is just beyond me why anyone would hide all the detailed craftsmanship of a bespoke cabinet, as well as the rich and colorful depth of the wood grain, behind a layer of nearly black stain... TWICE.
I love to see all your processes. Mistakes/challenges/learning curves happen to all of us. You two are a great work team and your love and respect towards each other shows 😍🙏 Everything looks so beautiful! I hope Master Benoit is happy too 😇🙏 PS: I love the accent of the vase in the kitchen 🧡

Phillip, you are a funny man! Anna, you are funny too! The pair of you are quite amusing, a nice touch, especially under a somewhat tense situation! So far with your bathroom vanity, so good!!
At least you not doing the bathroom cabinets right the first time now redoing it is making it look like it's been in the chateau for a long time it was a happy mistake. I like it more heirloom feel to it now I absolutely love the master suite and bathroom series you two and your team definitely are creating timeless beauty.
Anna, thank you for finishing the bathroom cabinet. Having finished and refinished many pieces of furniture throughout my life, it was painful watching Philip’s mistake. Sorry Philip, although your placement of the handles was super. Also I got my wallpaper already. It came so quickly. So beautiful along with my print. Thank you for your wonderful videos and if you are faced with doing something new may I recommend watching RUclips videos to see how others have done what you are about to do.
The handle looks crooked just a bit. Yes watching the stain process Phillip did was painful. If he never did it before,he should have practiced on a scrap piece. Is this an unusual stain?
The dressing room and bathroom are gorgeous and the vanity is looking great. Love the hardware. Phillip’s pumpkin vase is perfect in the kitchen-you are so lucky to have such gorgeous flowers in your yard. Have a great week.
I love the color that you've put on the cabinet. What a lot of work, but you'll get it done. The door handles are beautiful. Glad that Phillip got the right stuff for the stain and the other parts that go with it. Lesson learned the hard way, but it will be beautiful when you're done. Have a good week. (from Sandi)
The cabinet looks great now and I love the dark ebony. The Swedish handles are perfect and a very nice memory. Philipp the orange vase is appropriate for the Halloween time of year and the design is pretty. It’s a pop of fall color, but now that you can design and print others, make one in a shade of green for Anna!!! ❤

Philip I laughed so hard, every time you held up the square it was crooked 🤣 I noticed you didn't put any water in the vase.. do they hold water? The Bathroom cabinet is looking amazing, I see Philip is still in servitude for his error, installing handles, bringing supplies, making vases, picking flowers and praising Ana for her talent and skill. I live where some furniture restorers have tanks of chemicals to dunk the furniture wood and otherwise. My mom painted an antique g’ father clock - arghh- everything came off including the paint in the wood grain. An idea
You guys are so funny. Really makes my day! Oh uuum I read some where when staining you must use a cloth to rub it in properly. You can use a paint brush but you should use a cloth afterwards ( paintbrush picks up too much stain and can make it look uneven). You should also use a wood conditioner before applying stain as it helps the wood and how the stain goes onto the wood. Glad you guys used the steel wool in between as it helps the wood take the next layer. Not sure if that helps 😅.
I have to say I like the finish of the sink cabinet after sanding the black off. The way the black accents the grain looks nice on camera, and I'm imagining what it would look like with a varathane sealant over that. although not sure if that's how it looks in real time. I also love the color of that dining room... again not sure if the camera colors are the same as in person. All your color choices are stunning. Wallpaper stunning. I like the way the black tile and cabinet and tub anchors everything and plays off the other brightness. The color of that bedroom though is a Stunning choice... it's sll an eye feast. Of course Phillip's expert filming is so entertaining too. I hope the master carpenter is happy with it. 😅 The saying is happy wife happy life, but I think it's truer to say Happy Benoit happy chateau.

The handles looked perfectly straight to me, Philipp. Besides, eyeballing it is always preferable to using unnecessary things like measuring tapes, levels, etc. Perhaps you can teach Benoit this skill when he's next at the chateau.
OK cringing once again - apply with cloth ( it's called cheesecloth ) and wipe with the grain when staining! Yes a very fine steel wool enhances the application between coats. Again - with the grain when ever doing anything with wood. Using the brush applies way too much stain and it impedes the effect and colour selected.
