The 55 Studebaker styling was at least 20 years ahead of its time aerodynamic that no one else had until the 70s

Manufacturers can produce cars that are "good" for you like when Mom made vegetables. The truth is, Americans in the 1950s were buying power, style, status, & art sculpture to showcase in their driveway. SO WHAT IF IT WASN'T A CADILLAC, THEY WANTED THEIR NEIGHBORS TO THINK YOU DID ALRIGHT.... Not Went Strange. Initially, IT WAS NOT TWO CARS IN EVERY GARAGE. A first practical 2nd errand car was the Ford Falcon, 1960 to 1970. I'd buy one today.

I DO NOT THINK PACKARD LOST ITS WAY. I think consumer expectations were high, they were being CATERED TO WITH CHOICES, A-N-D !!! THE BIG 3 HAD ECONOMIES OF SCALE that Packard, Studebaker, Jeep, Nash, and Rambler JUST COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH AT THE BIG 3 PRICE POINTS.

You don't go to Tiffany's for a "Bauble." You go to Tiffany's for an understated accessory that implies big bucks, an heirloom, or a top of the line piece of Jewelery. When it comes to automobiles, guys did not want a mere piece of low cost, fashion jewelry.

Granted, some of these Auto Exec decisions WERE QUESTIONABLE. THAT SAID, the market had become CROWDED, HIGHLY COMPETITIVE, FAST MOVING, AND FICKLE.

It's a pity you haven't told us the type an size of the engines in all of these cars.

17:12 It was? Raymond Loewy designed Studebakers are universally accepted as some of the best looking cars of the '50's.17:27 again I ask, it was? Does that look like a bullet nose wrap around rear window star light coupe?17:35 Except of course the Buick.17:56 a 259 V8 wasn't good enough? You make it sound like it was powered by a lawn mower engine.18:39 OMG It wasn't marketed or sold as a luxury car.

Packard. They messed up because they couldn't afford to change from an Inline Eight to a V-8.

The 1949-1951 Nash Airflyte met the same fate as the previous 1934 to 1937 Chrysler Airflow. Ironically, these cars DID EMBRACE a more realistic application of aerodynamics for standard vehicle ground speeds. HOWEVER, IN THE PUBLIC'S MIND, THEY WANTED CARS LOOKING LIKE MUCH FASTER JETS & ROCKETS
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lucky me, after looking at this vid in just 0:02 sec I got this bright idea 🤔 Look in the comments FIRST ! If this was a “Clickbait Crap Competition” this one will take the prize. How much will Jay Leno charge the producer, if he knows about it?

one could play baseball in the backseat of the airflite!
The Willys Arrow was produced in the '60's in Brazil.
The fifty four Buick is the car I made up a joke when I was four or 5 years old... that's a ghost car, it's a boockic.
The fifty three Studebaker was an elegant car the the nineteen fifties did not appreciate or deserve! It carried well into the mid- sixties to be joined by the Avanti.
The Studebaker-Packard merger and the Nash-Hudson merger should have gone one step further; Studebaker, Packard, Nash and Hudson should have all merged and been more equal to Ford or G.M.
One final note America only makes toy muscle cars for way too much.

Notice the pic showing Jay Leno and weird cars that are not in the vid. Why are you using Jay Leno as clickbait? Bullshit. You lost me for good.
