- This is the second of a cppl of clips that i will post from the BuddyRich tribute concert that i did with the Royal College of Music BigBand in London.
This is a great compilation of a number of Tunes we played that night.
it was such a joy to play this material and i hope you have fun checking it out too.

It's cool to see the influence of more contemporary drumming placed within the big band jazz setting. They compliment each other nicely. It is refreshing to hear a difference in timbre from such a large part of the rhythm section through a more modern drum tuning. Great job.

Man can't tell you how much I love this. I love that fact that Benny has listened to a ton of Buddy and has all the hits and fills nailed down. But at the same time, lots of his own style shines through. I think Buddy would have loved this...becuase it is a "tribute" to Buddy, not trying to be a copy cat. I'm the age Buddy was when he died and I'm a student, fan and long time devotee of everything he did and meant to jazz and drumming and this was a sincere effort from a talented player who didn't grow up with this music but none the less interpreted it well. The one thing I did notice (or felt) was that Benny seemed to be playing along with the Band rather than leading and driving the band. But there are many great drummers who felt this was a better approach...Mel Lewis comes to mind. But Buddy's force, energy and personality always meant he was never "just along for the ride". :)

Absolutely wonderful. In so many ways, Benny playing Benny, is as inspiring and satisfying to behold as watching Buddy. Just a gorgeous display of musicality in the context. Bravo.
I have literlly been trying to write a comment for the last 5 minutes but i honestly have no words for this.. the highest repect to Benny and all the other great musicians that made this iconic concert happen

It's fun to hear all the greats give us their interpretation of Buddy's playing. He really was the innovator on the drums!

Hells teeth, that was so fine. Mr Grebb is a relatively recent discovery to me, I love the way he commands the kit, such grace power and ability to dance the sticks around the skins and hardware to a degree that is quite frankly unfair and out of my reach, baaahhhh,. More Grebb please.....

Karl Hungus Favorite version the Dev's have done of Ya Gotta Try? Mine has to be 1980, when they used it as their opener. Worked so well.

Wow! This is incredible Benny! Sounds like such a fantastic concert. Will we be able to buy the whole gig somewhere? I would love to download it in its entirety. Superb.
His small shell mount tom is positioned about as flat as i've ever seen. If he sat any lower i don't see how he could play it without getting rim shots and clicks, very great playing.

Hopefully we won't see too much comparing of Buddy & Benny. Benny played Buddy's stuff his own way and that's cool. The double bass fills are fun to hear but Buddy is STILL in a league of his own. Nobody can come close to the left hand of Buddy.

How the hell does he get his floor tom to sound that full with those heads. Sadly most of his videos i've found have comments disabled and every video that floor tom sounds like it's going to swallow your soul.
