There's zinc impurities in that gold, you can tell because it's bubbling a bit and giving off white fumes. That's also probably why you had casting problems on the first pour.

When you guys have a new bowl you should burn off the new paint by just taking a torch and a wire wheel! That paint end up in the bar and it’s no longer pure or as high grade gold
