YOu're funny..I live in Cbus and it's way too far south for you to be going through there. That's gotta be Cleveland and uhh.Toledo is a few hours from there.
That accident is a stark reminder of just how dangerous driving is--drive defensively! Wear a seatbelt! Wherever you're trying to go is not worth putting yourself or others in danger. Glad no one lost their lives, but obviously double amputation is life-changing. Stay safe out there 👏
I remember the first time I saw one of these, someone down the street had one when I was a kid. I had no clue these existed and all I could think was “who the F sticks Cadillac badges on a Cavalier?” Apparently the answer was GM LOL
I remember going to a supermarket, in Jersey City, in early 1982. Outside the entrance there was parked a shiny black Cimarron, obviously new, with a smart young man behind the wheel. Two elderly women, evidently known to him, and who would certainly remember the Cadillacs of the 40s and 50s and 60s, were loudly and determinedly telling him "THAT AIN'T NO CADILLAC!".
Thank you for the video. Great trip. That's long trip cleaned out the entire fuel system and sludge in the engine. I had an 88 for 12 years. Only issue was at the end when the entire electrical harness fried. I would get another in a heartbeat.
GM's J car was sold in Europe as the Vauxhall Cavalier/Opel Ascona. The modern equivalent is the Vauxhall/Opel Insignia. GM ended up selling the Vauxhall and Opel brands to Groupe PSA so the new models are basically rebadged Citroens and Peugeots.
I'll give you a fun little clue for removing oil off of the floor use the dust from a charcoal grill after it's all burned out the powder of the charcoal dust absorbs the oil like a magnet
We got these as the Opel Ascona C. There was a sporty SRi and a 'luxury' trimlevel Berlina, 1.3L, 1.6L, 1.8L and a 1.6 Diesel. Also in 5dr hatchback. Decent cars back then.
Very nice video:) I do wish the video , like all of them was longer tho but looking forward to your next one! I love your road trip videos keep it up:)
VSS probably has CE light on too. Also TCC lockup solenoid on the THM125 Trans are junk. Some would intermittently lock, fail to lock, or stay locked up causing engine to stall when coming to a stop. But again lockup needs speed input to ecm to work.
So when people used to (and still do) say these computer controlled cars will be long off the road, not like the good older cars....well here we are. Turns out it wasn't too hard at all to get it going again. Are new cars way more complicated than a J-body? Obviously. But if you were a car guy when this Cimarron was new you probably would have sworn there'd be no way or desire to get it back on the road someday. Again, here we are.
Great video I have a Question for you On a stuck Hood on a 1977 chevy I can't open it I've pulled the hood latch but the out side is stuck HELP please do a video on how to release a latch on the out side of the 1977 Chevy Single Cab

Since you were in New York you should of went by fellow youtuber "South Side Main Auto Repair' and saw if he would have hooked up a fellow youtuber and replaced that thermostat for you.
So that car DOES have cruise control, I don’t know if it worked but it absolutely had it. I was looking at it while you were saying your knee hurt (it was on the stalk to the left of the steering wheel). Lol

gm is the king of rebadging
Its a 1000 miles to Wisconson
Weve got a full tank of gas
Half pack of slim jims
Its dark
And were wearing sunglasses
Hit it!!
These are known as a "Glorified cavalier" around here, actually not a bad car if their in the condition as the one you have, Liked, Have a safe trip
I was about to say the same thing!! The Cavaliers were a pretty good car, But... the bodies Always rotted badly and quickly!
First thing I think of when I see the dash is "cavalier".. my ex-girlfriend from yeeeeaaaars ago had an old cavalier with that dash.
Nice to see all those old GM J-Body’s in relatively great shape, I’ve only seen a handful in my life.

Bet people were making angry wisconsin voices after seeing you do that
lol

Not often you hear about Wisconsin on RUclips... so this peaked me interest :D
and i've watched a shit ton of youtuber's w/ their fixer up cars and trucks, but fixing a Cimarron is a top 10 move my dude.
I respect your work ethic and skill. I also appreciate your chill attitude .
Wow. Wait you’re at 45k subs!? Dude I’ve been watching you for almost 2 years, I think you were at like 11k when I started. Huge respect🙏
tasty cassette AM/FM for the Cimmie! Sweet!
Was Jeb driving in Wisconsin? He went straight in that turn lane by the gas station.... lol
Lol
You and Jeb are glued together lol
I had a 1989 Cavalier Z24 with the 2.8 V6 - have to agree with Bruisers Beaters that the bigger engine makes for a fun J-body!

Chevy Citations had the thermostat right, remove the radiator cap and there it was, no tools required.
older the car the better, more simple and built with quality
I had an 83 Cimarron and I loved it I miss it
That car doesn't have cruise control? Thats unheard of in a Cadillac. They have had cruise control in Cadillac's since the 50s.

8:16 Troy NY - you drove right by my street a couple miles back. Sorry about the traffic lol!
Ive had severals 2.8, 3.1, 3100 ect...they all stay that cool when movin....traffic will get up a smidge over 1/2 and the fan start there
Who doesn’t love vice grip garage
It does have cruise control, on the signal stalk, in typical 80's gm fashion, unless its not working.
Fortunate the driver survived that near fatal accident. Losing both legs is better than dying.
Unfortunately he passed away in the hospital
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 shiiiit that sucks
composite lights, mean it's at least a 1987.
I see you were driving down Hoosick st in Troy, NY. That street is almost always horrible with the traffic on it.

Try to have someone else pry it open with a screwdriver while you pull the latch
I had the Cavalier version. It was normal for mine to run at about 1/4.
Does that thing have a tape deck, or a fake deck?
When will we see more of the Detroit?
Love the car but man it would be great to see a skyhawk

Shitty news but thanks for the update.

Ok while watching it was not as easy. My 84 was just below the radiator cap. No tools.

A sincere welcome to Buffalo :-)
I was born in 98 and I'm 24. This car is so powerful it has delayed time by 4 years
And that plug was 1/4 npt (national pipe thread)

The Rural Vermonter in cheese head country!
I saw cruise control. I guess it was inop?
You didn’t pass 1 single car the whole way 😂
He's probably just being careful with it. V6 J-body shouldn't have terrible pickup. 130-ish hp. 5 speed and a turbo that thing will slay C4 Vettes.
Not gonna lie, I thought the car was painted with primer before it was polished

It had but didn't work because of the speedometer acting up

Does cruise not work? Because it's on the wiper stalk. I can see it...and as long as the temp isn't above half you're fine
Yea
