In this video, I fix my 2003 chevy 3500 duramax up, and then take her on a 2200 mile road trip to pick up a car! It does not go as planned.
Thats nuts that Vermont state inspection cares so much about rust. Ny doesn’t give a damn. You can have bluetooth rockers and brake lines, just don’t get caught with window tint🙄
Shit, duct tape is legal in PA!
Here they are obsessed with parking brakes. Especially the Jiffy lube inspection place . Some guy had a crack in the frame on an F150, but his parking brake works great
Same with rust here in Tennessee for the most part, I saw a truck literally with a bluetooth frame the other day only thing holding it together was the driveshaft it was almost in two pieces bent in half
@@cigarsgunsanddiesel8032 not in Wayne county, no rust holes allowed and has to be covered with metal or bondo.
@@ThatBlueHoe have an 01 Grand Marquis with very minimal frame rust, the mileage is almost 200,000 but it’s only surface rust, and no underneath body rust whatsoever. Very little rust in outside of body panels. It’s a gem 💎 for sure. I daily drive it too.
Was just wondering when you’d be back. You’ve got nerves of steel. The chances you take but it always works out.
You Right phil God bless you 👍
Getting ready to go from NY to Kentucky and back in my 01 V10 excursion with 223,000 on it. Heading out there to pick up a 1990 vw Jetta Wolfsburg for my brother. Now that we are in our 30's we don't get to spend the time together like we used to, I'm really looking forward to it. Wish me luck
Sounds fun, best of luck!
Man that's gonna be one expensive trip
That's gonna be a dent in the wallet but my family did a roadtrip down to Georgia to pick up a trailer my dad bought. In a 04 f150 with the 3v 5.4 and my dad was praying to God that it didn't throw a spark plug or timing chain. But I'll be dammed that the truck pulled it through until we got back to NY and it throws a check engine light 😂😂😂
@@kylebeach2316 eh they don't all throw spark plugs or they probably would've done a recall.
@@caryhuffii7224 no different from dually lifted trucks that you see people driving all around the country.
It is always nice to see the "Welcome To Vermont" sign when we are on our way home.. I am glad that the Duramax made the trip with out any problems. Really if it was not for the fuel mishap you would have been golden.. I am looking forward to see that awesome THUNDERBIRD! Thumbs up man !
Pro tip (from someone that's done Durham/Portsmouth/DC/SC and back a bunch of times): I-77/I-81/I78/I80/I287 (Cuomo/Tappan Zee) is your friend. I-95 and any routing through NYC is a guaranteed nightmare. Used to be you could drive late at night and avoid problems on I-95, but it's a cluster from NYC all the way to Richmond at all hours now. Hope you have a great summer. You left Chucktown just in time to miss the 100 degree weather....
thanks for the tip!
81 is a mess around the holidays. I'd avoid it at those times. Every time there would be 8 accidents on my way down. If he went this route it would probably take about the same time as he'd end up way inland to get to Charleston. 95 can be much quicker in spite of traffic.
lets face it, this is literally Vermont in a nutshell. Taking a old, clapped out diesel farm/work truck on a roadtrip lol
hell yea
😊
The wait is worth it! I absolutely LOVE your road trip videos, and I'd call it 100% successful! You're brave going solo haha.
I cannot wait to learn more about the T-Bird. It's *CLEAN* *AF!!* Will we see a cruise through downtown with your road trip friends?
Thanks! Yea I’ll make some videos cruising around town with my buddies
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 Awesome! I can't wait! ^-^
For sure a smart decision to drive at night in DC, Baltimore, NJ & NYC metro area - no traffic. That T-Bird looks nice, will be a fun summer/early fall car.
I chuckled when you said your estimated eta for that trip. I just thought about what you had to go through just to get to NC. I grew up just north of South of the Border. It used to have billboards up for hundreds of miles advertising it. Nothing else like it.
Really enjoyed this road trip can't wait to see next video. That truck is awesome sitting all that time and it drove all that way with no issues
I’m gonna be honest, I got real nervous watching you blast that thing out of the mud with absolutely no air filter on that engine 😂
You don’t neeeeed an air filter, just send it!
So glad the videos are back rural Vermonter! Great way to start the summer!
Welcome back... glad to see that you are posting again. T-bird looks very cool.
Welcome Back Rural Vermonter!! Man I've missed these vids!
Let the adventure begin and hit that thumbs UP button!
Good to see your craziness back at it...well done on that trip..Nice TBIRD
Wow welcome back! So glad to see you uploading again
I'm from New Zealand.
I lived for a while in Ludlow, VT.
It was really a vey nice place.
I used to make the drive from Chicago area (by my family) up to Colchester (VT) straight through stopping only for gas. Usually took me 16-18 hours. When I got to my place in Colchester it was usually 2 to 4am and I had cold beers and a big bag of cheese popcorn waiting for me. Then, bed til noon.
Making Waldo welds happy with those dimes.
RV, firstly, glad to see you back. That was a long trip, for what looks like a great purchase! Look forward to the next vid!!
Just bought a PA owned 2001 Chevy 2500 HD with 168k miles. Was a plow truck most of its life but it has little to no frame rot due to the undiagnosed rear main seal and valve cover leaks. Only required one rocker panel replacement and a rear quarter replacement.
Engine runs strong transmission is great and for 1900 dollars i think i stole her. Also glad my homestate didnt slow you down any :D
95 on NC is cake but if you take I40 east or west through the larger metro areas like Raleigh Durham or Greensboro its a parking lot.
It's so funnny hearing up north folks say what they never seen down south🤣🤣.. Country life
Gotta love a Canyon... Very dependable and comfortable truck.
love mine!
Great video, glad to see you getting your money's worth out of that truck. Super excited for the T-Bird, was wondering when I'd see a classic like that on the channel.
Reliability reliability reliability is number one
Good to see your video up again
Hey man. I actually just came across this channel on a whim, I don’t subscribe to a lot and mostly just watch car videos, but man this is a cool channel. Can’t wait to watch more. Between nursing school and work I don’t watch as much as I want but, honestly great work I really enjoy your laid back videos man. Kinda random comment I know but couldn’t pass the videos I’ve watched without letting you know.
Thank you!
Although things didn't go super smooth. There is something different about these late 90's and early 2000's trucks. I had a 2001 f150 with 236,000 miles that burned oil, leaky power steering, 4 nearly bald tires, 2 which were held together by Fix A flat. Life circumstances came up and I had to make a 915 mile trip to Missouri, and within a week take the trip back so 1,830 miles total. And besides keep filling up the oil and power steering, she took it like a champ. I swear I would still have that truck today if I wasn't rearended so hard a year ago, totaling it.... Everyone has a brand they are loyal to, Ford made me a lifetime customer with that truck...
It's awesome to see you back. Can't wait to see that car driving on the Channel very soon.
I wish I had somewhere to keep project vehicles and such. Living in a subdivision has its ups and downs
great to see you back man really missed your videos, this was a real banger!
Nice road trip and that T-Bird looks to be in great shape. Good to see that Duramax handled the job well.
Nice content. I want friends like this to learn from. I like doing this stuff but I get frustrated easy
Glad you’re back
Ole VermiT... where ya been bud? Beatle stick-on too cute! Been a daaang while... jeez already! Appreciate the upload mi'boy n thx for the share. Don't forget about us over here. HA
Good old Brattleboro!Used to jump on Rt 9 over there to get to Keene NH .
I gotta give you credit you are fear less . That Policeman did you a favor taking a commercial vehicle on the parkway in New York is like a $300 ticket Some navigation systems have a truck route setting to a void the problem you had
It’s not a commercial vehicle. He couldn’t give him a ticket, but there are height restrictions.
In New Jersey, back in the sixties you could not drive a pickup truck on the garden state parkway. they were considered commercial vehicles, since they had to have commercial plates.
Great to see you back
As a Marylander, its RockVILLE thank you very much lol.
Good to see you and beetle !! Missed your content .
Man that Duramax is a beast. You need to patch the rusty rockers and a rattle can her red. , She would shine up nice! Great content man! New sub!
Good old reliable Chevy trucks 👍👍
Storrow Drive in Boston, is the same way, NO TRUCKS!
Aaaahhh you got yourself an electric impact wrench 😀, I recommended you to get one a few videos back. If you have any issues with it in the next year return it for a refund because word on the street is Dewalt are bringing out a newer updated model sometime this year of their high torque one code named the bruiser 2 lol.
That 95 stretch between Baltimore and Fredsburg in VA is terrible
As much as I love chevys I had no hope it was gonna make it and back pretty much problem free.. one tough old duramax
Awesome adventure! I live in mass, let me know if you have plans to sell her! (The t-bird lol)
Bro you should have taken the route through the smokie mountains, avoid ny/nj at all costs!
Chevys are a tough ass truck 🚛🚒
😂😂😭😭
hey man you came though my neck out the woods! I'm about 25 mins from Rockville
I haven't seen rust like that since I left PEI for Western Canada. You never see anything like that in BC, even on Vancouver Island
Its funny how I knew exactly where you were the whole te on Connecticut
Yeah when traveling driving at night is the move.
We're you serious that the cops would possibly harass you over rust on your vehicle? I've never heard of such a thing here in Iowa, Liking video, its almost like GM used substandard steel on the underside of their vehicles, we had to weld the mounts for the control arms back together on ours cause the seams had split on them, I let all the ads roll for your channel
Let them ads roll haha
@ It's a Rome a Thing Everyday Come to Pennsylvania for our once a year Safety Inspection and Emissions Testing. It better not be rusty or it FAILS.
@@mc2whls mine would fail then
Welcome back from Milton VT
Top gear has definitely used the background music you used in the intro 😂
my truck started right up after 5 months of sitting.
Welcome back big dawg !!
Welcome back !
how did you like daniel island. that is where lots of rich folks live. several areas around here with lots of money. anyway you did that car a favor b/c it would just rust out sitting in one of those house, slowly, due to the salt in the air from the ocean and marshes.
I'm from Massachusetts n I recognize the highway u drove through Northampton
Great job!! Really give you lots of credit!!
Rural Vermonter is back!!!
my kind of meal.
Looks like a GREAT Project! Subscribed to channel so don't let me down!
You made my day with this video!!
Heeyyyy! Long time no see.
Love the Bluetooth strap over the tires lol
I drove my 200K mile Mercedes 1.8K miles one way and then 1.8K miles back in 2 weeks. as long as the vehicle is properly maintained, it will be fine.
That truck is starting to look good, now that you changed the fender and the small door.
I want a single cab long box 4x4 of these trucks, maybe a 2500, maybe a 1500
Great video guy, might have to get me a duramax..
Get another Fender for 50 bucks and fix that fuel system so you can run both tanks and get some lights for the rear of that truck. I know it costs but that truck will give you nothing but good luck if you just do a little fixing. Shoot half the parts you can find in the junk yard even tires if they get a good wreck in for scrap!!
Man I'm in Maryland wish I could have got a picture with you
its been so long
You and Big Al both southbound and towing on I95 in a week
I work in the big building on the left at 16:12 :)
I like your dog
If your going to talk about junk batteries with peg you have to have it red line on start😉
Fuel pump busted??
did you have to get an inspection sticker on your truck first? or does it not need one in vermont?
You’re also from Vermont?
You said it has not been registered for 3 years? How did it pass inspection for plate and insurance?
Don’t need inspection for registration or insurance
That truck was def put to use
That car in philly wasn’t drunk thats just an average philly driver. Lmao
Great vid man!
Do you make good money doing hotshot I was thinking about doing it
Hey! Was just wondering about average mpg you got on your Duramax
Why on earth would you go through NYC? It's always better to take a loop route around it. Same with DC.
It's a chevy it will make it
Why no commercial vehicles? A flatbed isn't commercial. I saw a box van and the interstate is ment for that.
Total BS!
I like your style
great video 👍
Something's going to happen to that truck you didn't bring it to a mechanic and have a thorough inspection done to it I would say that was a mistake
I thought you were in jail
AVR, what year is that duramax?
2003
Cool, Nice car 😀
THE BAY STATE.
