    That whole experience looked awesome. Beautiful nature, beautiful little trees, what else could you ask for?

      Just giving thanks! Well said my friend, its the bonsai hunters dream! The cosmos aligned once again and I was able to do what I love most! I couldn't ask for anything else. It actually felt rather spiritual. #GOBONSAI!

    Nice collection, bro! I think you can get that reverse taper outta there over a few years. Sacrificials shoots, scarring, maybe even a thread graft to thicken up that area. Great looking material! If you ever need me to hold onto it for an indefinite period of time, you know... hit me up!!

      Thank you! Well it should make for an interesting update when I deal with the reverse tapper down the road. It's nice to know you'll care for it if needed;) I've moved so much in my life, I've always had to give my trees away. My first coastal live oak didn't make it 6 years back. A friend was building a structure and offered it to me, but I had to move before it made it through the year. I'll make sure this one will makes it.

    Hey man. Cool video and gorgeous oak. Bummed to read that it didn't make it. I was wondering if you could share roughly where you were digging this beauty from. I need some advice if you don't mind about collecting some material in my area. I recently collected a couple younger live oaks in zone 9b Central Coast CA. Anyway...would be stoked to drain some wisdom from your brain. Take care!

    what kind of oaks do you think are most suitable for bonsai?

    • @bonsaihunters
      @bonsaihunters  7 лет назад

      These CLOs are as far as I know. What kind do you have in, Texas?

    • @MrTributes
      @MrTributes 7 лет назад

      lots of live oaks, water oaks ,cherry bark, scarlet, pin oak, willow oak. im thinking I will try water oak this year. iv seen saplings of what look like live oak plus water oak, looks like an awesome breed for bonsai. my red oak(I think scarlet plus pin oak) didn't get the nice tiny red leaves this fall that it had when I collected it, but over all the leaves on it are a good shape and size...

      Oh yeah the black and red oak is good here too, those kind may be good where you're at.

    Did it survive the collection?

    • @bonsaihunters
      @bonsaihunters  5 лет назад

      Unfortunately not. I haven't had the best luck with oak and hackberry, but I won't give up.

    • @bonsaihunters
      @bonsaihunters  4 года назад

      @Glynn Jarrett yeah bub you got me figured out. How many oak and hackberry videos do I have, 2 or 3? You think I have the time and resources to go around fn up all day everyday just picking away, do your research better, have patience and take time to think about what you're putting out there? I get lucky if I get to go hunting once a year, you think I didnt learn anything for my mistakes or trials? You I dont do everything I can to succeed? You think you have the context, but you dont know all the intricacies of my life and how I operate. Watch some gary vee videos and come back and talk to me about my process. Have you collected any trees?
