Thank you very much for your great reaction! I am sure it is not often with bands that the leadsinger loves it to give another band member the lead in some songs but Floor obviously does. In my opinion this is very special with Nightwish: They all are friends who love and support each other instead of trying to be THE star of the band. No egos on stage, only six outstanding artists who love what they do and serve the songs. Marko easily could be the leadsinger of any band (and has been with Tarot. After he left Nightwish at the end of 2020 and one year of retreat he started a solo career). By the way, it is so nice to see that so many people's faces light up as soon as Floor appears. Yes, me too love her, love her beautiful highly versatile voice, her great stage presence and connection with the audience and her great personality.

Marko is missed but i think there was some monkey business with Nightwish. Great reaction .....again. Im not a Billy Joel fan, but Down Easter Alexa is pretty much timeless.

Great reaction. I have noticed, though, that you do not appear to have reacted to another of the big hitters in the Symphonic Metal genre; Within Temptation. Therefore I would like to suggest that you check out their song "The Promise". ruclips.net/video/3oB2x5-44Zo/видео.html . This performance is with a full orchestra and choir. Sharon den Adel's vocals and an epic story of revenge.

God I miss Marko, but honestly I think Troy is doing great considering the talent that Marko is. You can check out Troy singing ``The Carpenter`` from the concert in Buenos Aires and of course ``Harvest`` from the Human Nature tour.
Even before the song started I had to grin, because I knew that the band would surprise you. With Nightwish, the direction in which the song goes seems to be fixed very often, but again and again they make musical detours until they have finally played the last note. That's why their music never gets boring, but remains eternally exciting.

Some of the explanations one can find on line about meanings of Nightwish lyrics often leave a lot to be desired! In this case, oh they wrote a song about an old sea captain walking along the shore. Or, in one rendition, it is said to be a lighthouse keeper. Nightwish seldom, if ever, writes any lyrical themes so shallow and straightforward as that! The characters and plot are merely vehicles to tell a much deeper story through a tapestry of metaphors. In this case, the sea captain's tale weaves an allegory about the simultaneous yet contradictory emotions at death: on the one hand, sadness and melancholy at leaving it all behind; losing everything you know. Yet on the other hand, a serene happiness and peace at the final unloading of burdens from one's shoulders; letting go of one's "cross(es)" one bears throughout life. Although this is the gold-standard version because of Marco's live spotlight performance, the official vid is also worth watching to serve as a "sounding board" for this one. The movie-like imagery of the video lends more understanding to the allegory. For example, the old captain having to drag his ship's anchor over his shoulder, struggling with its weight over rough, rocky terrain is clearly a reference to Christ dragging his cross. NW often uses religious metaphor even though they are (mostly) not religious folk in real life. The captain's struggles dragging the anchor culminate in a peaceful smile on his face at the end when he finally lets go of it at the edge of a cliff, letting his airborne ship drift away into oblivion. Review the lyrics again with that allegory in mind. It will take on a whole new goosebump-inducing meaning (and perhaps a few tears when it becomes inevitable to envision oneself in the role of the captain)
