Love Foolish is one of the best B Side kpop songs I've heard in my entire life
It's good beat-wise but the melodies should be sticking in your head which this is lacks of. I think the best b-side should be songs that everyone can sing along and the melody should be memorable the first time you hears it.

Some extra information on the songs for those that may not know:
Rainbow -- Written by Nayeon and used Chaeyoung as a muse. The color purple means physical, spiritual and mental healing in Korean Culture as well.
Get Loud - Written by Jihyo. She wrote it in the mindset of someone that is angry. It's about the strength words have and how you must be cautious about what you say to others. Though she never says it, you can assume it's a message about how hate comments can easily and do easily affect others.
Trick It - Written by Dahyun. A song about how sometimes you have to say little white lies in order to not hurt those you love.
Love Foolish - Written by Momo. Nothing special to add, just a bop.
21:29 - Written by the members. Titled as such because they finished it at 9:29PM while they were on tour. It's something they wrote after reading fan mail, and is a message they wanted to give back to Once. During their comeback showcase they also mentioned how Once's were adding (To Once) : (To Twice) to the meaning of the title, so they adopted that as well.

I just recently started listening to Twice bsides, so this couldn’t have come at a better time! I’ve been missing out on so much of their music for so long, they are a lot better than people give them credit for from just listening to the title tracks!

Definitley my favourite Twice album. Every time a new album comes out I get more impressed by how good they actually are. Twice has a lot of famous title tracks but when it comes to bsides Twice is on another level. Versatile and progressive. I'm really loving the transition to the edm(ish) dance style.🥰

actually most of twices songs are inspired by future house and future bounce, which are pretty recent genres, although i get why you would think they're old because the FM modulation that makes the synths "bouncy" was used a lot back in the day.
also the drum you were mentioning is called a tom, which is also really used in (guess what) edm in a ton of genres to build up a part of the song.
i dont know any of the producers besides jyp but it seems they all like to make edm inspired songs, even jyp. that genre has been trending for the last 5 years, brought to light by galantis, don diablo and etc...

DarkCeptor44 no hate just a minor info. Fm stands for frequency modulation so theres no such thing as fm modulation. Other than that youre right. A lot of times fm doesn‘t sound as clean as other synthesizing methods. At least if you don‘t compress the living shit out of it which gives a little older feeling overall.
i agree, i don't think these sound like old songs rather, they sound like remixes of older songs. almost like people revamping take on me, cyndi lauper, whitney houston etc... or they use samples from such songs. it's almost like what the future funk genre does to literally all of mariya takeuchi's discography lol

Feel Special was my favorite album from 2019 which is kinda weird because I’m not a Once (well, I guess now I am), and I am so sorry for all the groups that I stan because they’ve lost the first position. They are mostly boy groups so it makes complete sense that I really loved this album after listening to your review, PD. By the way, my favorite song is Get Loud, hands down.

Jihyo wrote Get Loud expressing her feelings, she can be loud and very vocal about her opinions.
Dahyuns wrote trick it as she wanted to write a track about white lies and how it's okay to tell white lies to protect someone.
Momo is damn talented at song writing like Love Foolish is the biggest one on this album. Our momo deserves the credit.

I live for the build up of this album with Love foolish as the climax. Just when you thought it couldn't get better, it does. Then 21:29 just gives you a chance to breathe (maybe cry) before you wanna re-listen to the album again.

I think Feel Special was in the class with Cle 1: Miroh, Treasure EP.2: Zero to One, and No.1 this year. Every song on the album slaps.
Also, I think you're right on this being the best Twice album. Up until this year I thought it was The Story Begins (seriously, their debut EP slaps) or Twicecoaster Lane 2. Maybe Yes or Yes. I always thought twicetagram lacked cohesion. But both of these two releases this year took the top spot when they came out, imo. 1. Feel Special, 2. Fancy You.

their b-sides are just getting better and better, it's crazy. This was seriously the best direction to take their concept as well, it matures it from the cute to something that's more chic/vogue while also infusing that eurohouse/electronica sound. This and Fancy You both have such great stuff from them

when I first heard LOVE FOOLISH I was shocked as well. it is sexy, its slaps you in the face , makes you spine shivers and Kicks ass.I couldn't believe it was a twice song.
Love Foolish is a groundbreaking song for kpop but people aren't ready for that conversation.
Love foolish was extraordinary. That song was meant to tease people what Twice is capable of doing, AND BEYOND. Like, it's kind of dangerous. They're definitely DEFINITELY underestimated in what they can do, and im saying it as humble and as honest as I can but I don't think we have seen all that there is to TWICE, not a single bit, they're more of a progress group if anything, they get better and better (pun intended) each passing year and its like their charm never goes away, when they improve and improve they sooner or later suck you in like magnets. Like they've got so much success with such a "not favorited" "not preferred concept...or image" in their very very successful careers, so I can already imagine the chaos they can create if they do more & more (pun also intended). Not trying to assume anything but im just saying this as i add more sugar on my cup of tea, stay woke on Twice. Then they don't even get promoted or get a chance to show ALL of their capabilities, like I said...It's kind of dangerous. And I'm so glad jyp isn't rushing anything, their game is very smart and satisfying to watch, the progress and improvement. I'm just saying Twice can take everyone's cake if they wanted to, easily. They proved it with one single song, a B-SIDE track on a end of a year album, this type of song is usually expected on a first quarter comeback but it wasn't. It was perfection.
This was a really good explanation and exactly how I felt after listening to Love Foolish. I’m not proud to admit that I was one of those people who easily stereotyped Twice and said they were some talented doing childish and girly concepts, that I totally didn’t enjoy. Then Fancy came out and I had to do a double take. And Feel Special and the entire album blew me away and I was stunned. I wonder if they’ll ever unleash the Love Foolish side of their singing.
I just hope TWICE can perform Love Foolish in concert and do amazing choreo to it

I don't listen to Twice, but for some weird reason I decided to listen to this album. I was blown away!!! Like, seriously! I love all the songs (Feel Special not so much). I was so waiting for a girl group to do music on the GOT7 sort of sound. I really really really hope JYP will keep doing their music like this. Trick It is my favorite off this album.

I didn't think I could be so emotional over a reaction video but here we are. I've been getting goosebumps the whole time, even if i've been listening to the album over and over. Feel Special the album is just TOOOOO POWERFUL. And Twice is just the fucking best.

watching this made me remember the first time i listened to this and how shocked i was right after listening to love foolish. older twice stuff made me curious about kpop music, but this, this album, that's what really took me deeply into it. i won't ever forget it, this album made me left behind all my prejuices about the genre and open up totally to amazing music. this is a great, excellent album, and i think everyone should listen to it.

So this cb meant a lot to me as Fancy was what got me into Twice so like April-ish. I went through their entire discography and found a lot of good bsides (Ice Cream, Sunset, Look At Me, Lalala, etc). I really didn't think they could top Fancy You with the "mature" (I dont like to use it because it insinuates that their previous stuff is immature) sounds but rather speaks about experiences they had rather than the lofty lovey dovey life of "omg I cant wait to have fun".
Everything post BDZ was a big turning point for my taste in their songs and this album just knocks it out of the park. The whole album is very synth pop and I always want to inject it right into my veins.
Rainbow- that loud bright sound with insane reverb. Ty Nayeon
Get Loud- intense drums and commanding lyrics. Ty Jihyo
Trick It- funky and quirk it but addicting chorus. Ty Momo
Love Foolish- possibly my fav with such a crazy synth backtrack and the dark "I love you" in the background. Ty Chaeyoung
21:29- brought me to my knees. It's a very different ballad and one of my favorites now. Ty girls
