Rey's theme, besides being highly adventurous and playful, there's something mystical about it, some parts are literally Imperial March played backward, and the beginning notes are suspiciously similar to Emperor's theme. It's a masterpiece, and arguably the best character motif from John Williams.

It basically tells you all the musical similarities between Kylo, Rey and Palpatine. Also, Kylo's theme is basically the last part and a continuation of Palpatine's theme, making him almost like a successor.
It's been mentioned that the reason he returned to compose for The Last Jedi is because he didn't want anyone composing for Rey but himself. It just goes to show how invested he is in her and how much thought he's put into her theme.

She should have been the villain, people in Hollywood think that there is only one blueprint to writing a strong female character and that’s so far from the truth.
We have yet to really see a truly badass female Sith Lord in the Star Wars movies, Rey could have been that character.
Rey’s theme is in my opinion one of the best Star Wars pieces ever made. And this version just makes it better

I'm going to cry when the saga comes to an end just watching the trailers brings tears to me. It's been an amazing journey and I have loved every minute of the sequels, prequels and originals

The last trilogy was fucked to me. I really enjoy the 7 despite its obvious weakness, hated the 8, was confused about the 9. This song brings out the epic/dramatic spirit that lacks in the last trilogy and that makes Star Wars, Star Wars.
The sequels suck, 7 is fine 8 is awful and 9 doesn't make any sense.

I respect Rey a lot more as a character after TROS and this version of her theme is so fitting and epic. Props to John Williams for the original epic peice and props to you for making it sound even more epic. I have spoken.

@@Ncholasbloom the same thing happened with the prequels. Give it a few years for people to calm down and we’ll start to have more open and less hostile sequel trilogy discussions.
@@Scooter407 I'd also argue that once more content in the era comes out it will help. A big part of the prequels being accepted was the success of Clone Wars. I know a guy whose a hardcore prequel hater but he loves Clone Wars. So even though his opinion on the prequels as films are unchanged, he has no issues with them being canon because otherwise Clone Wars would be non-canon.

i understand your point. the prequel trilogy was not accepted at first, but the story was magnificent and nobody hated it as much as the sequels. The sequels basically ruined Star Wars, and that is why Disney is thinking of retconning them. Rey's character development is the worst anyone has ever seen, all the fighting choreography is crap, the story is bland, and it made Rey the chosen one which basically makes the first 6 movies pointless. Disney could have done much better. So many people are saying we dont like Rey just cause she is a woman and that is far from true. Remember how excited people were about Ahsoka? Ahsoka is one of the best characters in Star Wars history. And George Lucas had an idea for thr Sequel trilogy where Leia is the the main character, and Maul comes back as the villain. That would have been epic.

What the guy above said, plus she has no character trials, no actual development. Finn wanting to run from the FO and then deciding to fight is character development. Rey has none of that. She’s a boring, one dimensional character.

Ironically by trying to make Rey flawless, Disney makes her a flawed character.

Rey chose the skywalker family because she knows there is hope with this family not like the palpatines, you call her a coward I call her a warrior aka skywalker

The best theme for the best character
No matter what people think of Rey, I have a strange soft spot for her.
Rey could have been an amazing character if she was written well. And that’s what is sad about this.
Everything from her being a Palpatine to her having a lot of power would have been forgiven had she been a well rounded well-written character.
Then again anything can be forgiven if it’s well-written.
That’s why I’m kind of hoping for a Rey series - with good writers.
