Why aren't the central banks which are all doing Nirp considered to be a deadweight loss? Serious question. I guess someone will say that they're inviolable or sacrosanct because someone created little pieces of paper (laws/exemptions) and placed them inside of fancy buildings (which grants them the rights to do these things). Simply put, better than the rest of us and therefore not held accountable for anything, ever.
Explanation looks incomplete to me. Lets take the bus example. But if I have 50$ but the bus cost me 60$ due to tax, they say it is not made up for in value because there is no revenue, but i will still spend it on something else (maybe i go to a restaurant instead). I dont study Economics, I study competition law and so Im trying to understand why monopolies are bad. Sofar I havent come across any good explanation.
@@videakias3000 That was not a free market failure. The president of Atari was inside trading, which led to a bubble, which led to a collapse. You lose 10 dollars worth of a trip. The bus driver/company loses 10 dollars worth of revenue. The government loses tax revenue. The world is worse off.
Can you calculate the dead-weight loss of African Americans being disenfranchised, disproportionately targeted by the prison industrial complex and generally the unwillingness of White America to invest & treat them just like they would treat their own fellow white Americans. Thank you.
C. Lincoln - Here’s a fun fact: deadweight loss doesn’t happen without government intervention... situation is applicable here too. Government has always been the deadliest and most discriminatory organization, and people want to give it MORE value.
jffryh - They can. That doesn’t mean the deadweight loss we are talking about will happen. In a perfectly competitive market, DWL is impossible. And monopolies have no history of taking form without the help of government.
i read several other websites before visiting this. This was the only one that made me understand.
😊 Same with me...
So how do I lose weight
everytime you wanna eat something, give 10% of your food to the government
When you die
Do deadlifts !
First time I understand economic concept like this
Thank you dear
Go check the land value tax,the tax system without any deadweight loss
This was really helpful, thank you!
Nero?
I dont get it
What do mean by benefit of the trip? It's satisfactory benefit?

@2:58 "negative externalities"
Yes! I think this should have been stated in the beginning. If you don't finish the full video you might never be able to catch that information.
Approximately how much deadweight loss is there in the economy?

how is there no revenue if the government gets the tax
Why isn't the new price 3$ ? 2$ + 1$ because of the tax?
the producers decreases his profit by 50 cents and bares the 50 cent tax.
Super helpful!

When you say "market inefficiency" you mean the government, right?
not necessarily, sometime market fails and government has nothing to do with it.
government wasn't the one responsible for the video game crush of 1983
@@videakias3000 How's that related?
@@CvnDqnrU dammit, for a moment i thought you said market failure.
i guess it is not related to what you said.

how can you make something so simple complicted :-P :-P ?

The bus driver/company loses 10 dollars worth of revenue.
The government loses tax revenue.
The world is worse off.
intro music hella nostalgic
why trip to NY equal 1 and 0 ??
the one means that 1 trip was taken before tax. After tax, 0 trips were taken.
