It’s so good to laugh, even during traumatic times. The young girl with the ‘Hairy Toes’ 😂, her nurse who saw her, then told everyone to be watch out as she has really hairy toes, that made me laugh so hard. Especially when she said, be careful, the hair might get stuck in the wheelchair wheels. You have to be able to laugh. I also wanted to say, Georgina, the nurse looking after Margaret is an absolute angel, what a beautiful soul.
I love how sweet the nurse is with the lady with dementia. The nurses and doctors in Europe are so much nicer and calmer than here in America. I know everyone doesn't agree, but i think we should have a healthcare system like they have there. Do you know how many family's go into debt and end up homeless because of a family member getting sick? Even just calling an ambulance cost thousands of dollars. 30:10
I'm with you on that. Let the sourpusses opt out. I'd be more than happy to go from myself & my employer paying $1100@ month to support aetna's stockholders to having it go back to We the people's supporting our general welfare because this trickle-down mythos is harming us all.
Alzheimer’s is so awful and when you see your relative deteriorating to the point where they no longer recognise their loved ones, it’s desperately sad. I only hope a cure will be found one day soon.
The story woman with her hairy toes made me laugh out loud. The quips going back and forth were good. It was a bright spot in all the other stories that were so heart rending.
It’s almost worse on the family than it is on the victim. My Mom was an only child, loved and adored her entire life - but Grandma didn’t even recognize Mom for over two years before Gran passed. It broke my Mom’s spirit, in a way. And then Mom had dementia in the end, too. You have to take each day as it comes, and always celebrate with your loved ones each of those days. Make each day really count in your heart.
Ralph Nader is one of my greatest heroes, responsible for seatbelt laws in the US: Unsafe at Any Speed was a bestseller in nonfiction from April through July 1966. It also prompted the passage of seat-belt laws in 49 states (all but New Hampshire) and a number of other road-safety initiatives. Unsafe at Any Speed: The Designed-In Dangers ... - Wikipedia
Love Ralph Nader. He was on Saturday Night Live and he did sketches to bring attention to the things that were important to him. He played the part of a man getting an interview and he seat belted himself in the seat. Love that he went on a comedy show since it still got his point across.
The girl going to marry Justice, the ring is not for ever, it’s your love, taking good with the bad it’s about you two giving everything you have to keep your marriage alive.Georgina you a stunning porcelain doll, the sweetest. It is so hard to loose a family member to dementia as you my mom had this and I would light up when she would recognizes me. Hold on to those memories
Maitland, you resemble your mother when she was a young girl. I just lost my step-mother to the Alzheimer's disease. She was so lonely since my dad passed from cancer. I understand how you feel. All my parents have passed now. It seems different when you don't have parents anymore. Take care.
My Nana had the same form of dementia, believing that the characters in her favourite tv shows were there and talking to her. I hate dementia, it kills people without taking their body.
I know exactly how you feel. My husband is working 65 hour weeks every week just so I can have health insurance while I’m healing still, 6 months after Covid.
My father has dementia and wants me to care for him. I feel guilty that i dont feel i have the emotional or mental strength to watch him decline so much and ultimately forget me. Sometimes i wonder if a quick exit is more humane for people than, such a slow decline.
Poor Justice. I know that local anaesthetic needles do hurt. I've had a few in my eyes for cataract surgery and bleeding inside my eyeball but I found laser surgery (.no anaesthetic ) much more painful
I can't imagine getting so drunk that I'm unable to remember how I've injured myself. Perhaps it's because my first child was born when I was 18 and there was neither time, nor money to go out drinking and dancing. My father was also a heavy drinker and I vowed never to do that to my children.
Absolutely lunacy! We can’t always prevent accidents but we can do the bare minimum to protect ourselves. He had his daughter in the car & took this terrible risk. Not great parenting, imho.
I heard lots of wonderful statements in this episode. Having worked in geriatric, oncology, and hospice, it's life affirming to hear how others are coming to terms with end-of-life issues.---I just wish I didn't cringe every time I see a patient pulled backwards in a W/C...that is a forbidden no-no in America.
Lost my mom to dementia is 2018 - actually lost her 4 years before that - lost the woman she used to be. She didn't know who I was either except that I was "the candy lady" because I aways brought her a candy bar at the care home. Dementia and Alzheimer's are merciless diseases, and kill the unique individual long before the body. About James and his wife - I'm American so forgive me for not understanding why she would mourn James' long work hours and "missing everything" but did nothing to help out financially. When the girls were in school or as they moved out and got married, why did she not work even part-time?
Such truth! I've noticed how proactive they are about pain meds. They even ask most patients if they'd like something for pain! Here in the states if you ask for pain meds, first assumption is that you're just there for drugs! Nevermind the fact that you're in obvious pain!😡
It likely helped push him up into it given he was daft enough to not wear a seatbelt and they often have a slight delay to activate- expecting the seatbelt to brace you- he would've launched instead.
How many times does it have to be repeated. Dont drive without a seatbelt. I'm thankful that my Subaru just keeps beeping louder and louder till I put it on. Also, my Mom had alzheimers, and it is difficult to see them changing into a person you don't know any more. But she lived to 101 1/2. I look foreward to seeing her in the resurrection here on earth. Revelation 21:4
Won’t that be an incredible day??! I can hardly wait! I miss my Mom and Dad so much - they’ve been gone almost 20 years, it’s been two decades of misery for me. Who knows - maybe you and I will meet there and your family and my family will become good friends!
The nurse who attended Margaret is absolutely amazing!
She is a true professional. 👍
😊😊😊😊
She’s the best! Georgina.

I must be out of the loop. Is shaving your toes a thing?

Georgina--the nurse--is a TRUE ANGEL!!!!😊👍🏻
What a wonderful soul this nurse has. Her gentle care of the lady was lovely to watch.
Alzheimer’s is so awful and when you see your relative deteriorating to the point where they no longer recognise their loved ones, it’s desperately sad. I only hope a cure will be found one day soon.
In this case, Margaret is doing great, living in her own world, not scared and confused. Should we all be so lucky.
Georgina is a TRUE ANGEL!!!!😊👍🏻
I love Margaret’s nurse, Georgina - she is very sweet and caring!
Georgina is such a sweet and caring nurse. She's very sincere in the care she gives to her patients!❤
The story woman with her hairy toes made me laugh out loud. The quips going back and forth were good. It was a bright spot in all the other stories that were so heart rending.
When the nurse told the porter the hair on her toes might get caught in he wheel.hahahahahahaha.
I want Georgina to be my nurse when I need one! She is a sweetheart ❤
When they showed Margaret as a young woman, you can see the resemblance to her daughter
This show is better than therapy I cry through every episode and I learn so much about love no matter what what love prevails❤❤❤
My mother had Alzheimer's and it was unpleasant to see the person I knew and loved become someone who didn't know me at all. 😔

Thank you for the uploads. I wouldn't know this show exists without them.
That George is a little stunner
Hopefully, the guy in the first one who chose not to wear a seatbelt, taught his children better.
Every episode is so well done. The staff at St. George's is remarkable. The back stories are always interesting.

Why is the title Surgery under Pressure?
This guy should have worn his seatbelt isn't that the law this guy is very lucky to be alive God bless him

Have they given anything to James for pain? Here in America they think everyone is drug seeking. You would think they could tell 36:14

Yes they gave morphine and codeine, the Dr. said that.
If the airbag went off, how did he hit the windshield??!

Why do so many people think they are too cool to use a seatbelt? If I were a relative I would be furious with them!!😡😡

WEAR YOUR SEATBELT or live to regret it - that or try and stop yourself from flying through the windscreen and dying.
