If you get the apps, Bimmer code and Bimmer Link you can control TONS of options for the car with your phone, don't like the auto stop start? Turn it off permanently. Its crazy how much more you can control with the apps. Need a new battery? You can program it yourself with a touch of a button, every light, warnings off or on, the folding mirrors to the transmission, how much and how long the headlight spray jets come on how bright the lights are, how hot each setting on the seats, literally hundreds of things you wouldn't even think of or know you can set and change turn on or off, they are MUST haves if you own a BMW.
Just FYI, both of your pet peeves can be coded out with BimmerCode. It’s a $20 software and you just plug it in and turn stuff on/off. In my m4, I have coded the auto start stop to default into off when starting the car, and I coded the start/stop button only take 1 push to turn the car and accessories off. Worth doing!
The start stop push button 1 for auxiliary power and push twice for off is something i love, sometimes i sit in the car and wait so its great to be able to kill the engine but still have full power.
Hi Kelly, thanks for uploading the video! Proud owner of a 2013 535i xDrive here in Korea. I also passionately dislike start/stop, so I asked the BMW service centre to switch it off permanently (I think they had to reprogramme the cpu and took several hours) - totally worth it! Might come in handy for you in the future!
Love The review I recently just bought one at 60,000 miles and it is in immaculate condition a few dings and I honestly love it thank you so much for the review
I have a 2012 528i xdrive. And I love it. It's been pretty good and it's in great shape. Some minor things here and there. But nothing major or noticeable cosmetically or mechanically. Great video!
The only People who should own used BMWs are people who really understand these cars. I have the same car as you and I love it but yes you got to pay to play when having a used BMW but if you learn how to do your own maintenance that can save you lots of money.
One thing I love about the BMW everything's from the interior feels like it's button down realy tight good heavy built real quality no fake plastics parts that rattle during the ride
Nice job with your review Kelly. I like that you pointed out both the good & bad honestly. Our family considered a BMW too but went with an Infiniti Q50 instead, we love the twin turbo setup. I also figured the Infiniti would be slightly less to maintain compared to a BMW. 5k subscribers All Terrain Nation! 👍🏽
I just bought a 2013 535xi N55 and days into had to have a thermostat and pump. Still overheating. I'm afraid to drive it because I hear if it stalls a tow truck can't pull it. Have to get under it to put it in neutral. Pray for me
Looking at a 2012 BMW 535I XDRIVE with 112,000 miles for $10k! Would it be a win or lose? I have never owned a BMW before! Seeking advice and help with knowledge! Thank you in advance🙏
Honestly I would pass.. Unless you get good documents showing major services have been done. Water pump and such.. These tend to leak at the transmission as well..
Thank you for making a great video, I came across it because I am looking in buying a 2012 535i xdrive. It has 53k miles on it and only has 1 owner who has taken great care of the the car. Currently I am driving a 2015 Nissan Altima with 140,000 miles on. Simply asking if you think the BMW would be a good upgrade to make at this point.
I would want an inspection on the car. They can have a handful of leaks from the transfer case for the all wheel drive and make sure the water pump is not leaking.
Thinking about buying 2012 528i - decent price I just have to check the car fax and see what was replaced or not - thoughts ? Please all thoughts are welcome
brought a 2012 528i x with 137,000 miles knew about the head gasket and fuel pump cost about $4,000 to replace both at dealer replace myself cost $2,000 so far total cost if the car $10,000 had it for 9 months. Probably will have more issues but for the milege its been holding up very good. Just stay away from dealership repairs or DIY
We sold this car a few months back. Major maintenance to look for water pump, belt pulleys need to be BMW parts. I would have a good tech look it over and give the ok… Best car we’ve ever drove
We would recommend taking it to a mechanic who specializes in BMW and allow them to inspect the car. Water pumps are a issue and oil pan seals can wear over time. The 5 series is an amazing driving car
I see one in my area with 85k miles for under $16. That is as cheap or cheaper then a Camry from around that age. My concern is every mechanic I have watched videos on say not too, because of mechanical problems. Have you had many?
Yes we had the water pump go out a month into ownership.. I think finding a 3 year old would be ok but past 5 years the issues start to pop up. Look at Lexus or Infiniti as a nice option.. Both have great quality for this segment
for the love of god, it has automatic air conditioning, why would you even touch those button that much that they would wear out. Set the C, press Auto and enjoy perfect even temperature all the time

is it common for big, expensive issues to occur? how does this 2012 BMW compare to a 2012 Infiniti g37x?
One thing I love about the BMW everything's from the interior feels like it's button down realy tight good heavy built real quality no fake plastics parts that rattle during the ride
Owned a 1989 535i when I lived in Germany. Was one of my favorite cars to drive.

It’s so outdated tho even the 2022 looks like 2012 on inside

Hey Kelly, I used to turn wrenches for a local race team, we ran an Alpina 3 series…they don’t make them like that any more! 🤟
Looking for a 2016 BMW 535i XDrive and your video popped up. Thank you for the review it was very informative and you're a great reviewer!
Glad it was helpful!

I can't wait for the M5 on the channel :)

Nice video
Thinking about buying 2012 528i - decent price I just have to check the car fax and see what was replaced or not - thoughts ? Please all thoughts are welcome
Also- it’s 2012 with 132k
Water pumps are key! Make sure to get it in a rack to check for oil leaks as well.. after that they are a solid car that’s a lot of fun to drive
DID YOU BUY IT?

Oh good I've been wondering how the experience has been.
KELLY very well spoken, interesting and informative. Excellent video
How has the ownership been? I am planning to buy the same 2012 535i X Drive.. just scared about maintenance costs
We sold this car a few months back. Major maintenance to look for water pump, belt pulleys need to be BMW parts.

@@AllTerrainNation Awesome. So do you recommend I should go for it once my tech guy and mechanic says its clean?
@@visheshpopli8649 yes for sure!
Lady reviewer. Yay! Subscribed! Please I'd like to see more of this
Awesome! Thank you!

My 2009 lexus is250 had push to start and leather with air conditioning in the seats as well as heated seats
Im about to buy one of this bmw with 189,000 kms, thats a W or L ?
Lot of wear on that one
What kind of MPG are you getting? Great video BTW.
Sadly I do not remember.. seems like 19 city.. We sold the car a month back.. Thank you for the kind words
I see a 2012 535i for 18k out the door with 42k miles, what are your thoughts guys
We would recommend taking it to a mechanic who specializes in BMW and allow them to inspect the car. Water pumps are a issue and oil pan seals can wear over time. The 5 series is an amazing driving car
Beautiful car
We agree!

@@AllTerrainNation the previous owner but a cheap water pump in the car it’s not the car’s fault
Water pump went out in mine at 90k. Miles
Very typical I hear at that mileage

Set the C, press Auto and enjoy perfect even temperature all the time
Love my car…and there’s so much more you can do with ICARLY
I wouldn’t buy a bmw if I wasn’t a mechanic personally
