  • This session is targeted towards those working in shelters/pounds/rescues and who may receive stray or surrendered LGD's.
    We cover:
    • What a LGD is
    • An overview of breeds and their purposes
    • Recognition of behaviour of LGD breeds
    • How best to respond to their behaviour and how they might be different to other breed types
    • Why LGD’s may be surrendered/not claimed
    • Best placement opportunities for LGD’s
    • Any specific care requirements that LGD’s may have while in care and how best to manage them while in care
    Speaker:
    Erin Williams, CPDT MDI, has been involved in Dog Behaviour and Training for 30+ years. Through her business Beyond Dog Training, she deals with everything from puppies to anxious and aggressive dogs and often works alongside Behaviour Vets.
    Erin’s other passion has been in the livestock guardian dog (LGD) field particularly in the USA where she is highly respected. She has brought that knowledge, experience and understanding to Australia via her second business Livestock Guardian Dogs Australia.
    She educates industry colleagues in assisting suburban LGDs; also farmers in establishing successful LGD strategies to prevent livestock predation.
    Her work has seen her recognised as a Finalist for the 2022 NSW/ACT AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award and the 2023 Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards.
    Her LGD webinar is part of Michael Shikashio’s - Aggression in Dogs Master Course.
    She is a Member of the Delta Institute Expert Advisory Committee; the Assistance Animals Committee (ATL); PPGA & APDT.
