As a man who traveled internationally extensively for the government, I agree with everything. A luggage scale avoids any unpleasant surprises at the check-in counter, a power adapter is an absolute must (I recommend 2; belt and braces approach!), I like my Chromebook for travel, and ear buds/plugs are a must. I'm retired Navy so I can sleep anywhere, anytime, with big old-school foam earpugs in! ;-)
I’ve had a handful of those electronic luggage scales go dead (I don’t mean the battery). There’s a mechanical Samsonite one that is realiable, and if you rip out the tape-measure, it’s ok to carry-on.
