I use Imperial Sizing Wax and ya can just wipe it off after full length sizing. I've used the Lee sizing water soluble lube but I prefer the Imperial Sizing Wax.
I did not see a comment on bullet seating depth. I would like some ideas about that as I am new to M1 and reloading too. I am loading 46.5 gr of IMR 4895 with an average 2730 fps and seating it at 4.25 using Hornady Interlock 150 gr bullet. But it seems a long way from the lands and maybe I need to get longer???
Try 44 Gr of AA2520 powder behind a 150 Gr FMJ. I don’t crimp. I do prefer CCI primers. If I’m single loading (WO clip) I don’t allow the bolt to slam closed, ease it forward and assist to insure bolt is locked. Don’t knock it until you try it. Shot a F Class match with my M1 got a 268, 1 X that’s 600 yards with iron sights. (Certified NRA instructor)
You single load the M1? It’s a military weapon, not a piece of fine china. Let her rip!
Could you tell me the exact specs of the Hornady bullets you are using?
So you read that you can use 50gr. Of the 4895 with the 155gr. Hornady. The Hornady load manual says max load should be 46.4. How do you know which info to trust?
I use Q-tips inside the neck to get lubes off. It works.
How do you test what powder charge shoots best? I do OCW for my guns with glass and it's clear what shoots best.
At 100 yds, do you find that the flat base bullet groups tighter than the boat tail bullet?
I believe boat tail bullets become superior after about 400 yards. Up to that approximate distance, flat base are better.

Hello. I use those same Hornady bullets and was hoping you could help me out. Once I seat the bullet over the cannelure, it tends to slip down before I have a chance to place a crimp with my Lee factory crimp die. There's no neck tension. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
FoodFolksandGuns about 20 years ago the DCM sold 168 Sierra and 173 fmjbt (M72) bullets dirt cheap in 1000 round slabs. Those were the days...
Are you forgetting to size your cases? If not, the expander in your size die might be too big, possibly intended for .303 British. For .30-06 the expander should measure around .306".
