I was amazed. I don't know anything about french language and could literally listen to you reading vorshmack recipe but it was really, really well done. I am glad you like it too. Now I can't get over that thought your voice would do perfect in feat with Paddy and the Rats. Maybe one day? Just think about it!
Sorry in advance, but I write a lot. I’m American and not exactly an expert on the subject of French music; HOWEVER - amongst Americans - I am an expert! Because I’ve listened to a ton of French music through my efforts to learn the language. IMO, with this one song, Clémentine Delaney deserves the title of the best French singer alive today. This cover is significantly better than the original, because when she sings, you can feel the angst that the song’s lyrics so brilliantly describe. Clémentine Delauney is the rare type of singer whose vocal cords are like ligaments which have a direct attachment to the heart ( think Karen Carpenter, or Layne Staley from Alice in Chains). And my other opinion is that this song’s lyrics qualify as nothing less than a masterpiece in lyric writing /poetry. Mylène Farmer writes brilliantly, and is one of the best francophone singers, however the "actual music" for her songs fucking sucks. It’s soulless techno Marxist pop bullshit. I can’t listen to fucking garbage like that. However her lyrics, and her vocals are at the opposite end of the spectrum. This song, along with the video, is obviously a song about Nihilism, as described by Frederick Nietzsche ( take note of the religious iconography, so good job video guy), and the writing is as good as something penned by Nietzsche himself ( because he was as much of a poet as he was a philosopher). I googled this song, and it was inspired by a philosopher, but not Nietzsche, but that matters not, because he and Schopenhauer were the originals, so anyone else is just a derivative. But i digress as usual. Anyway, Delaney’s vocals capture the angst of the lyrics unlike any other version that I’ve heard, which isn't many, but still…Her talent is undeniable. French is a weird language. It sounds good spoken, but not so good when sang ( at least not to an anglophone ear), however this chick can make french sound as good as any song sang in english, just like Mylène Farmer can, yet no-one here in the USA knows who Farmer is…We know who that hideous Celine Deon is though. What the fuck! Her voice sounds as close to nails on a chalkboard as human flesh can make without actually scratching the board. She sounds like a banshee with laryngitis. Delauney on the contrary has a "siren like" voice. I sure hope she sings more in French. If you read these comments Clémentine, you might consider covering something by Micheal Le Grande. I’m thrilled you’re a metal-head, never stop that, but your voice seems like a great fit for that type of music. You look and sound, like a 1940-50’s Hollywood starlet; like a Catherine Deneuve. If you were born 50 years earlier, you’d be a superstar in France. Another song you should consider is Fleur de Lune by Francois Hardy. It seems like something that suits your soul, and it kind of rocks with the George Harrison “Beatle-esque” arpeggiated riff; that’s another masterpiece french song. Anyway, your cover of Désenchantée is by far the best, better than the original no doubt about that. OK…I’ll stop telling you how to live your life now, sorry. I don’t think you realize what a gifted singer you are. Please do some more songs in french.
