Gerry takes us through another large bag of sprues from Victrix. This time it's 60 Late Saxon or Anglo Danes for your dark age army. This 28mm hard plastic miniatures set has a wide array of arm and head options for each body so that each figure is unique. You will need to do a bit of clean up on some of the models but the number of models you get is still impressive.
What game will you be running this force in?

Seeing some possibilities with Frostgrave here. Really like the look of the kit.

That single bag would give you a really nice start on several Frostgrave warbands

My only problem with these (and the vikings, to a lesser degree) is the ratio of mailled to non-mailled bodies. I don't need 36 bodies with maille, but I certainly need more than 24 without, especially if I'm looking at using these as Anglo-Saxons for SAGA (and doubly so when they've released a separate kit with only Huscarls). But they're absolutely gorgeous, that I will freely give them.

@Gerry mcCabe Good to know it's more useful and making sense for bigger games :) (guess it's me being limited and boring, mostly playing SAGA :p ). Still, I certainly wouldn't complain if Victrix were to release a set with 60 more or less generic unarmored dark age bodies, similar to Gripping Beast Dark Age Warriors...

@@andreaspersson5639 I am with you on this. I prefer the unarmoured warriors.

@Gerry mcCabe Quite tempting, actually. And either is fine, I tend to do both (at times with the same armies, even. Gauls make an excellent Horde for SAGA Age of Magic...)

Hi Andreas, I'm trying to work out the terminology here as I want to collect AngloSaxon wargaming models. Is Citrix a manufacturer, but also Saga? Or are they both the same thing??

    • @andreaspersson5639

@@LeHosko Victrix is just a manufacturer, to my knowledge they haven't officially endorsed any specific ruleset as the "official" one for their miniatures (and even if they did, it's historicals, people will pick and choose rulesets and miniatures as they want).
Saga is a ruleset, or a whole system of them, depending on how you see it. They have one set of core rules, and then several "universes", foremost among them Age of Vikings (for the viking age, surprise surprise). Saga tends towards large-ish skirmishes, rather than the full field battles that might be more common, with about 40 figures per side (somewhat depending on what kind of force you elect to field). They've also released universes for the crusades (Age of Crusades), as well as a more generic fantasy one (Age of Magic), and just recently the first of three promised ancient ones (that will be balanced against each other, allowing for a greater range of enemies to face), Age of Hannibal (you get three guesses as to what conflict that one focus on :p ). It's a very nice system, I definetely recommend checking it out.

Thanks for this. Just picked them up at Historicon. I'm going to use them for Ravenfeast, SAGA and possibly Frostgrave. They are good go-to troops for most Dark Age armies.

    Nice unboxing.
I like the crusaders light conversion examples on Victrix site.

Models look really good. Wish there was a US vendor for these guys because shipping from the UK is ridiculous.

I think we need more of a Bob Ross-y sounding intro for any Gerry video.

Should I just get this instead of the Victrix huscarl? Do they come with the same models>?
