I cannot emphasize how cool this machine is. We have lost touch with the digital age, also how warm and good the music must sound when recorded directly to tape, wow

So easy on the tape, one hand cue/edit.. wow! What a gorgeous machine!

machine in recording studio's up until the the early 90's.

They really built things to last. I recently got my hands on a Teac 80-8 reel to reel 8 track recorder. Half in tape and 8 tracks. 15ips speed. I was amazed at how good it was for something that was made in 1978 and still works today. Unlike anything you can buy today that by pure good luck lasts 5 years. I binned my 2 year oold chinese built system and have now gone 70's retro and loving it all. I do still have a 1995 minidisc recorder though. :o)

I got my A820 last month. Just like all STUDER tape machines I owned, it came non-functioning. The problems were traced to a broken MP7524. Now it works as a charm! Fantastic looking, good control, and beautiful sound too!

Buy one! Other buy old cars, you a tape maschine ;) ...not a joke, if you do money on side, one day, a few month ago you can buy one! I myself love telefunken m15a! Thats also a nice one and cheaper but not bader that this one! Thats a maschine with many extra you not need realy, but if you have it its also good ;) love both, but this one is a bit to expensive, older a80 or a800 and tlf m15a are cheaper but have also the highest studio standart! Also "lidl studiomaschines" (in German "kleinstudiotonbandgerät") will work fine, like revox b77 or pr99 from revox, or some teac! Tascam sadly more expensive than teac maschines :(

@@prris28 it give more expensive tapemaschines and also cheaper ones! Like studer A80 ...not bader than that one here! ...btw. Its a queston of the seller it can cost more or less than 6000$ ;)

@@Tonyjones175 Tape and good analog gears make sound alive. Even it compressed to 128kbps mp3 file, It remains it's texture. That's why some top engineers like Manny or Chris Lord-Alge, and more, render everything out from analog gear, even though final result will be compressed small digital file.

that´s olders "home recording reel to reel tape tubes like gruding TK-47 and others like that" will work well for recording voice (singing), old style (elvis styles) with all the saturation of the tube time? all warm weight and harmonics that recordings used to had? to play, i can see the video of this, is excellent, but to record i don´t know if will had the same sound quality, or near that´s olders profissional studios recordings using a condenser and preamp

Fantastic engineering, fantastic build, great features and no doubt the sound to match. But in 2013, who exactly is buying these old analog tape decks? I can see there is a demand because I've seen them fetch a lot of money, I just can't think who's buying them, other than perhaps studios keeping them as spares.
