Guess u could still call it a bond. Either way the animal just has recognized the hand as a non-threat or enjoyable to be petted, beyond that it doesn't have the ability to comprehend much else.
@Alyssa Coon agree mine was given to me as an egg, I incubated it and yeah I was afraif at first when it hatched since an adult tokay is aggressive as hell but turns out to be one of my babies to be taken cared

I lucked out and my Tokay is extremely docile, he acts just like this❤️ I think alot of it just has to do with the animal themselves. Some of them are nice most of then aren't
Most tokays are unfortunatly wild caught, which are the more aggressive ones. Same with large predatory fish, like Oscar's. One of them jumped out of the tank to bite my friend and I later learned it was wild caught which explained why it was so aggressive. Make sure to buy captive bred reptiles and not wild caught!
I don't know why, but at 0:09 his face just lights up... I just can't! It's too cute. And I know that reptiles have to face muscles for emotion, but you can just see the love and happiness when he is getting pet and realizes how much he's loving it makes me so happy!

no name I agree with Draconic Arachnid. Bearded dragons are pretty social and great 1st time reptiles (so are leopard geckos, although not as social as bearded dragons....however, leopard geckos are sooo tame and sweet....if that's what you're looking for.
Braddyhyper Chavz The tamest ones (or the easiest to tame) are the young captive raised tokay geckos. As with most animals, the younger they are, the easier it is to tame them. Ones born in captivity (not taken from the wild) are also easier to tame. Is it possible to tame a young tokay gecko? Yes, but it is not a guarantee. By their nature, they can be a bit aggressive, especially compared to other reptiles (leopard geckos, bearded dragons, water dragons, etc;). With some patience and kindness it is possible though. Take it slow and let them get used to your hands while they are in the tank (dropping a food item right in front of them will help). Then let them get used to sitting on your hand while in the cage, don't grab them but rather slide your hand under them and let them crawl onto you...this will let them feel like they are in control and not "captured". Are you looking at any particular tokay geckos...is your mind made up? One last thing, please provide them a hiding spot (they sell reptile caves at the pet store that work great), as they will get stressed without a place to hide.
The Tokay Gecko: well known for beguiling its human prey with imitated smiles and two large decoy protrusions that appear as eyes. Once freely invited into the home, the gecko waits until the human(s) have conducted their sleepytime rituals...then it morphs into its 'feeding' form. Once all internal organs have been devoured, it moves on to the next small apartment in south east Asia, smiling cheekily by the window.
Wow I never thought I would see something like this! I have a brown anole that sleeps in my shirt and drinks water out of a bottle cap, his name is goomba and I even tried to set him free but he ran up my arm, I still have him almost 4 months later

i got my tokay gecko when it was still ang egg i found it the mountains and seriously its not easy to take care of newly hatch tokay gecko, mine is a little bit smaller from yours.
I think the main reason that the gecko is getting "friendly" to his keeper, is because his hand is an immense source of heat, and the gecko can feel and sense that heat coming off of his hand. As everybody knows most lizards are cold-blooded, and so to warm up, they usually sun-bathe during the day. This gecko is probably saying "Geeze it's cold in here! Hey there's a warm place right over there, let me get closer to warm up a bit!" But still it's a great video, and your pet is awesome! And I just read up about Tokay geckos and they have a tendency to bite, so it is a little unusual for them to be acting like this.
Reminds me of the first time I came across a Gecko. I was just walking outside and it climbed up my legs. Then it sat on my shoulder and in my hands :)
it may be that i don't understand most reptile behavior, but how can you tell joogum is showing affection? from the nuzzling of your hand when joogum is being petted?
