Holy Cow! I remember watching this episode 33 years ago as a teenager and being amazed at how Nutz Gabrielle was. Of course, since I was a teen I did not understand the nuances of this kind of intimacy but I did understand that they hurt each other and Max seemed to be trying to make amends. I didn't understand why Gabrielle was losing her marbles in this episode. Now 33 years later, I get it. If Gabrielle were a real person she should definitely be in intensive therapy. LOL! Her nature is a bit sociopathic.
@@ClassicOLTL at least with the complications of Roger I could understand her going to him. With Sloan it was so just ridiculous, especially after the years between this and Sloan with Viki’s stroke, Clint’s bullet fragment and the death of Megan they were there for each other.
I liked Roger. I liked the Gordon family in general including especially Megan. Carrie seemed like a very sweet person, and I could see why a man like Roger married her. I couldn't see Viki being the type to just leave a man for another man even if that man was her first love. I think she's too decent and honorable for that.
Would you be jealous if everytime just about your husband or wife is spending more time with your ex of 25 years ago & plus excludes you out of what is happening when you were trying to understand how he or She feels then catch you in lies on occasions. And a honorable man does not try to sway about a wife from her husband just they are having problems especially when you know it's you. Vicki wanted both men & she told Megan that. Yes Clint had jealousy but Vicki didn't help by paying more attention to Roger then him. Vicki had jealousy for any woman around Clint she just kept it more controlled then Clint except Maria, she told her to stop coming around Clint so much she spends more time with her(Vicki) husband then she does, that she might get hurt because her marriage is too strong.
Yes she literally was the " scarlett o'hara " of oltl & max was like " rhett" tina was also somewhat of a scarlet & cord was like ashley. That's why I thought cord & luna were much better matched. She was sorta melanie & u never put melanie & Rhett butler together. People say gone w/ the wind was really the first soap opera & I think all soaps have some elements of it. I read many years ago an essay a smart poster wrote that about the above characters & said the reason todd & Blair were oltls last super couple in a dying genre of supercouples is that blair was sorta a scarlett & todd was heathcliff ( early todd when he wasnt pure evil anymore but still had that beast inside him) so he accidentally came up w/ a fresh new pairing heathcliff from wuthering heights meets scarlett.
Clint getting riled up over Tom Dennison and Roger Gordon made the show more interesting during the Paul Rauch era. I wish that attitude carried over into the scene where he discovered Viki in Sloan Carpenter’s room.
I think by then he was done with Viki and ger constant drama. He was torn apart by her infidelity...i love how karma came and but her in the ass when Sloan died afterwards!
Malone and Gottlieb definitely didn't understand Clint and unfortunately after Clint Ritchie's accident in 93 it was obvious the actor didn't have the same energy as he had previously. Clint's temper is right up there with Victor Newman on Y&R. One of the few actors who could make you really feel his character's rage.
For all you Clint haters... Can you HONESTLY say that if your partner or spouse said they loved someone else and they habitually ignored you and your family and he/she constantly spent time with that "loved one" that you would NOT be hurt and angry??? BTW the reason Viki loves Clint is because he IS her cowboy always rescuing her!!! What I hate is how the writers repeatedly marked Clint as a man who would accept all of Vicki's lovers. Clint is a very secure and confident man and he is not desperate in the least. I wished he would have left her ass and took off with Mrs. Alicia Grande!!! She is tall, beautiful and a nice person with a confident and sophisticated personality. Not to mention an extremely loyal wife even to a shady husband. The writers should have made Viki beg for Clint's forgiveness to win him back! 😘
I get the feeling that they were trying to have viki go for the " scholarly types" as she was raised w/ the best education & went to Radcliffe college at a time when girls werent going off to college like they are today. She came from great wealth & clints family were self made . Asa was born in poverty as they had shown & I guess he struck it rich in oil in texas & grew his empire to be a billionaire. I think paul Rauch just used roger & that guy tom before him as a spoiler to viki & clint but neither broke them up. As I've read Micheal malone & linda Gottlieb the next regime after Rauch left actually pulled the trigger on that. I think viki & clint could have been that rare couple to stay together. I really did not like how they broke up clint & viki. They really had viki out of character all over sloan & cheating on clint in a very pre mediated way. It wasnt some night if passion but a carefully planned rendezvous in vermont. I think viki would have ended it w/ clint before sleeping w/ another man. I mean how sad to have clint walk in on them at their hotel room. They also were pushing this agenda that clint was some dumb Brutish hillbilly from texas. Slaon was this rich scholarly man who was chancellor of the local college & a general. It really bugged me when they changed clint into this homophobic during the 92 billy Douglas storyline. He also was pretty viscious w/ asa & kevin in taking Leanne 's son away from her while viki was the kind one sneaking Leanne visits to baby duke. Then they had clint go beat the heck out of sloan & when viki was trying to stop clint he raised his arm like he was gonna wack her. Later viki said " u were like a bar room drunk & u almost hit me " whatever. Those were malone's words coming out of viki on what he thought if clint. He really started his destruction of the bukes. Its quoted that malone was tired of the buchanans reign & wanted to rise the sun on the Lords. I had no issue w/ making the original core family prominent again. I think as erika stated they never should have killed off victor lord. Imagine how much Meaty material if victor was around when Tina & todd were revealed as a children. I think his resurrection in 03 was so ridiculous. That victor was just alive somewhere for 27 years ! Gimme a break. That also was malone's first story when he returned & did a horrible writing job after such success from late 91 to early 96. I'm starting to think linda Gottlieb & his right hand writer josh griffith reigned him in. I mean he went off the rails when they departed in late 94. The guy had a rape fetish or something. Every year in the 90s featured some type of sexual depravity. Anyway look once Rauch left how badly he wrote for clint asa & cord. Same w/ defacto buchanan max & I'll even say gabrielle. When he returned he had this iconic character die next to a toilet instead of the very best thing when max was written out have gabrielle & him get back together & move to Argentina where their story began. I think malone loved his creation Luna so much that he refused to have max have a happily ever after w/ a character he did not create in gabrielle. He loved luna so much when the actress chose to leave he had her die instead of having her divorce max for yet another obsession w/ blair ( their buisness war ) & have her take the twins w/ her. He could not bear his luna have a failed marriage. The actress tanked on the next soap she went to so he could not bring his beloved luna back. It was crazy to saddle max w/ 3 kids as a single dad. Writers after made him a dead beat dad who skipped al off to gabrielle & later we learned he never called al or saw him again or sent child support when he & gabrielle were living in poverty. He also shipped the twins off to lunas family in no. Carolina. We never saw them ever again. So at least when they fired the actor they had max go get his twins & actually parent them in Argentina. Gabs should have went with them. Fans were so outraged they killed off al that they wrote in like crazy that they kept the actor in another part. Not exactly saving al as he became john McCain's brother. At least we heard when marcie came for a visit she did have a baby girl & named her gabrielle after al's mom. Why not just have al leave as well as what most fans wanted for gabrielle & max. It was all so bo could grieve for her & move on to whoever he did with. I'm also shocked nobody ever brought legacy character & buchanan heir cj Roberts back. Everytime a new young blonde man was cast fans thought it would be cj. From rex to paul Cramer hated & brody each time spoilers said this new male was cast it was hoped to be cj. That's how the buchanans were treated. Ugh
Great post. I lost interest in the show after Clint and Vicki broke up. OLTL was so great in the 80s. It's a shame that the new writers wanted to destroy everything that made the show so amazing in the 80s.
Couldn't STAND her! Everyone always says how amazing the actress is. I always felt she was wayyyy over the top and she's a very dangerous, deranged person.
Wow ty I never got to see any of early to end of summer of 89 on yt w/ clips here & there. I started watching b/c of max & gabrielle when he started trying to seduce the baby switch truth out of her. Man they were fiyah!! Max was such a jerk to take al away from gabby. She was his sole parent from birth til this point & max barely paid attention to the boy. He only wanted him once he saw gabrielle had moved on to Micheal & wasnt obsessing over him anymore. I gotta say gabrielle was by far Max's best pairing. Luna & blair never fit b/c they were they each had some of gabrielle in them but Gabriella was the whole package. Max was so cute back then
Love Viki but I wasn't a fan of her and Clint as a couple. Clint got on my nerves. Love Bo and sorry but I hated or didn't like any of Bo's pairings or wife except for my girl which doesn't come till a few years later. I will always be a huge fan of Bo and Nora and they will always be my favorite SuperCouple ever in daytime history 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. I still watch them all the time on RUclips. Nora was my number one favorite character on OLTL. I am glad her and Bo did eventually gotten back together in 2009 before the show ended. At least they both gotten their happy ending 💯. #BoAndNoraForever💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. #ForeverSoulmates💖💖
@@tammyramey7441 Sorry, but Nora would probably be next to dead last on my list of my favorite of Bo's ladies.....Didi was the love of his life and no one will ever convince me otherwise. At least SHE never cheated on Bo when they were together, which is more than you can say for Nora.
How did Fiona Hutchison never get an Emmy nomination? She was PHENOMENAL!!!
They wanted the sleep walkers to be nominated that’s why

I don't clint was jealous. But it was a perfect time for Viki to leave him for Roger. It would have made much more sense than the Sloan story
But the scene of Clint yelling about Sloan Carpenter being a thoroughbred while he's a workhorse is burned in my memory.

Sloan was such an annoying character to watch. i never liked him. Roger was far better than Sloan.
