Wow, I've always liked Mr. Frey with the Eagles, but, I've never heard him sing like this. Lovely. Rest in peace.
I loved him with the Eagles. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert on the Hell Freezes Tour.
I have all his Solo CD's

And he has done a superb job in it! Classic nostalgia fused with modern arrangements and intricate chord patterns. Only a maestro could do it! Thanks for the music Glenn.

I've been sitting around for the past couple of days not believing Frey is gone...it dawned on me that this is what my generation has to look forward to over the next 10 to 20 years...I've seen the Eagles 18 times..it weighs on me that I'll never get to see them again..it just wouldn't be the same..Rest In Peace, Glenn...you made the word a better place to live in...
I saw the Eagles in Dallas last year. I had seen then 7 times prior starting in 96 and listened to them for years. I was a LITTLE different but Don is still Don, Tim still hits those high parts like always, Joe still plays as well as ever and Stu can play any Eagles song better than Don Felder ever thought about doing it. Vince Gill does those songs where Glenn would have had the lead quite well. It was WELL WORTH the Trip, if you get the chance GO

This is one of the most romantic and sweet songs ever created but only Glenn Frey does it justice. This is exactly the way this should be sung. I searched other singers to see how they interpreted it but not Perry Como or Frank SInatra could put so much meaning in to it. This song haunts you especially when sung in this way.
I believe that Glenn saved his best for the last. Thank you Glenn for the hours and hours of joy you brought to our ears and hearts and minds.

Outside of Eagles, this is by far Glenn at his best. Great album. Wish we could've had more.

Having seen The Eagles in my town back in 2010 and 2013 they were incredible concerts with the guys performing Eagles music along with all their individual solo hits!!! Glenn's After Hours came out in 2012 and I immediately bought it because the songs were what I heard as a kid and from my parent's generation... This CD is exceptional because of the music and Glenn's incredible voice! I would urge anyone who is a fan of these love songs go buy the CD or download from itunes, it's that good.....
another great example of how those who can pick a good song are drawn to this song. it has been recorded by so many great musicians. each does it his own way but the beauty just wells up and out. then there are these lyrics. they trace what comes from the soul and says this is how i love you, life and myself. frey is a classical performer backed by a great combo.

Might want to check out the Tony Bennett version. I think it's considered the quintessential recording of this song, but Glenn really nailed it too.

I can hear that YOUNG 26 yr old Glenn singing........Man i am really going to miss this guy...I missed him from the day he left us. thinking about him makes my shoulders droop and a sad feeling overwhelms me. Glad he was able to make this album for his parents while they were here to enjoy it.

"One day we walked along the sand one day in early spring." I discovered this gem, searching for a recording containing the verse (intro), without which the story is incomplete. This was written for the film. Listen to it ... the echo of a piper's song, the shadow of a smile." There's all the story you need to know. And with that in mind, how could you just sing the middle and ending, devoid of context. Most people, even the likes of Barbra Streisand, who knows better (Listen to her "Over the Rainbow") ignores the verse, doing the songwriter a great disservice. This is now my fave recording of this song. Lovely strings, nicely captured on video -- the couple dancing was a delightful surprise! And the soulful sax -- perfection.
With that gorgeous arrangement, I love that he didn't get in the way. His job was to carry the lyrics. He's no Tony Bennett or Pavarotti. His interpretive power was what we wanted, and he delivered. Bravo. All in all, a delicious treat.

I've always liked Glenn and this is fabulous. I had never heard his song New Love until it was played in the Miami Vice episode where Sonny and Brenda go for a sail on the sailboat. Very moving! RIP Glenn ♥️
