Great project! Soak it in soapy water for a night next time!!!

I don’t know if that would work Bc this particular masking was plastic. The soap may have helped though

I so appreciate the enthusiasm. And the puns. I almost went with the “it’s so fly” pun for the thumbnail but my better judgement stopped me.

I could have really pushed it and gone “it’s fly-Er 🔥” … but I don’t know if anyone would have known wth I was talking about. But then again as I’m typing this I’m realizing that I may have missed an opportunity darn it.

An actual weeding pen is priceless. Used to do it for years for a job. Now do it for my own self created job. If you want to rip off the transfer film or whatever was oem on that acrylic you need to peel it first and replace it with a transfer media film that has an adhesive backing unlike all protective film and transfer tape. Then a cheap high tack paper will stick after squeegeeing it down and quickly pull off intricate weeding in one(ish) pass

So off camera I went in and peeled on of the wings with an awl. It did the best in terms of speed but I had a few scratches in the acrylic and since it was going to be lit I knew those scratches would also end up illuminated. I wonder how differently a weeding pen would perform. You have me curious. I also love the idea of replacing the masking ahead of time. Such a simple solution. I’ll have to take a crack at it at some point.

Welding Pliers for 3D Print support removal...
but for really, that "glue" is a good touch. Links in Description?

I just got the links in there for the moldable glue. It’s a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. We use it all the time and it gives a clean finished look and feel to things.
