The mountain tells you come up. Your gonna be the 1st to summit at this time. Then it tells you my bad. Don't let the frostbite stick you u to the mountain.
Here's the crux of the matter, everyone has their own point of view except for the Sherpas. The Sherpas are seen as "hired help" even though the Sherpas are the most professional climbers of all. Their skill, their tenacity, and their desire to assist every other member of their teams make them the most important people on every mountain. I will make their testimony the most lucid and clear in every situation. Listen to them, every time, because they will tell the truth regardless of themselves. I've known a few Sherpas and consider them much like me and my Tribe. They are like us, they aren't necessarily seeking gold, like the first world people are. They're the ones I trust, every time.
Pemba is an incredible climber, true! ALL of the Sherpas are incredible as well as underestimated and underpaid! Yes, summiting requires strength and endurance from each climber, but the SHERPAS make summitting attainable. None of the climbers would have a prayer of reaching the summit of K2 or Everest without the Sherpas setting their lines ahead of time, carrying up and staging O2 bottles for the climbers, and performing rescues!!! Sherpas make the climb SO MUCH easier for the “expert climbers.”🙄
Why's the family trying the fix the blame on somebody? Is ger the only casualty here? 10 more people died. Are their lives lesser? Whatever happened out there, everyone is to himself.
They’re just grieving, and they want to understand what happened. What happened was the result of poor planning, poor leadership and the idea that any human should be there in the first place.
The fact that so many people continued to the summit and would be descending after dark is a huge part of the tragedy. Those who turned back fared the best.
I read Pemba a was killed this past spring 😭 It's absolutely sinful these people work, WORK in such dangerous situations and if they die their family gets 2 years wages and that's it. The people who hire them should be required to have life insurance for the sherpa's family!!
I love the Irishman families ,acceptance of the tragedy. Marco was a hero, blah, blah, blah. Nobody can dispute his account, there Popsicles on the mountain Pemba said my super hero husband went back up to help the Koreans. 🤔🤔.Pemba said something different. He refused to come down mountain. He was almost but ass naked chilling where he thought he was in the Bahamas. Flipping burgers like you never seen before. Only the mountain knows how the burgers got cooked. Aka frozen.
The behavior of some European mountaineers is telling. They often come across as self-important, viewing themselves as heroes, as if the world revolves around them. I object to this pre-packaged heroism, similar to the simplistic narratives often pushed by companies like Netflix and Disney. The world's media focuses on European climbers as if they are the sole heroes, conveniently overlooking the fact that much of the actual climbing is done by underpaid Sherpas. These Sherpas are essential to European ascents of eight-thousand-meter peaks; without their support, these climbers wouldn't survive. It's particularly egregious when a climber declares a K2 ascent a complete success while ignoring the fact that two people died during the same expedition. To add insult to injury, immediately after the traumatic event, while Wilco and Marco were still disoriented yet they were sought to know the events and cornology. Meanwhile, Nemba Sherpa, who ascented the mountain in fully concious and was responsible for their rescue, wasn't actually consulted and is treated as an afterthought. This highlights a systemic issue: the contributions and sacrifices of Sherpas and other climbers (such as Koreans) are consistently undervalued and overlooked in favor of celebrating European climbers.
Pemba was courageous. Winning the award 🥇 is epic

I don't understand how Pemba can even climb K2 when his balls are the size of Everest
That's the best comment I've ever read haha. He's such a legend this guy!
You won the internet with that comment! 🎉

Sherpas have something that some or most climbers lack. Common sence.
It's hard to imagine that Ger McDonnell had so much love for his fellow man that he could not leave the stricken, not olny to save his own life.
More likely his mental faculties were severely hampered by (acute) mountain sickness.
I will go to the K3

Who is this "Mr. Kim" and who gave him the power to call the shots?
They knew the risks
Does anyone know the who sang at the end? It makes me tear up every time.
It sounds like Terry Reid, but I am not 100% sure.

If u go up the mountins , there's possibilities of dying, why investigate
The story is an avalanche took its toll, a Sherpa rose up as a hero while two of his friends died trying to do the same thing!
