Where is this DOJO (IWAMA?) and does anyone know what type of MAT they are using - it looks like it's cloth??

This is now called Ibaraki Branch Dojo (Iwama Dojo) located an hour train ride North-East from Tokyo (Iwama station exit). Yes traditional cloth tatami mats but with padding.

@@emptymindfilms those look more comfortable than the plastic mats - any info on what name or brand they go by. wondering if you can get them in the USA

@@3RomeoFoxtrot We doubt this mat is available outside Japan - usually custom made and only found in Aikido. In the USA this mat is not practical unless you only practice Aikido. Also the maintenance and repair is a big factor.

I was thinking of going to Japan to Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu dojo. I wonder if they would allow me to participate in one class? I would only be in Japan for a few days.
