A friend of mine Introduced WILD ORCHID to me back in the mid 1990's (way before Fergie got famous with the Black-Eyed Peas). When the BEP stared getting famous I kept hearing the name Fergie and I never made the connection until the early 2000's. I think the problem with Wild Orchids popularity has nothing to do with the trios talents. I read an article a long LONG time about in Tower records about W.O. that basically stated that Their music (while awesome) was about 5 years too late for the time it was released. Had they been out then (circa 1990-1992) instead of 1995s "At night I pray" they would have gained even more notoriety. But for the rest of us W.O. Fans, I still Wish Fergie would get back with WO and release another Album *crosses her fingers* In an interview Fergie States that she still is friends with the other girls.
We are Bubba's I think he means their first album was released 5 years too late and I agree. While it was stellar, it did have an early 90s vibe to it.
Great comment. I agree that their sound was 5 years too late. This piano house anthem would have fit right in within the early heyday of Cece Peniston’s first album alongside Finally and We Gotta Love Thang in 1991-1992. It was obviously inspired by those hits and most everything that David Morales or Steve Silk Hurley touched with a splash of Junior Vasquez tribal beats for fun.
I was listening to sports radio this morning and heard one of the guys say he bought his mother some Orchirds. And then all of a sudden Wild Orchird popped up in my head. I had forgot all about this group. So soon as I got on my laptop I typed them up and now I'm here.
I have this on a CD single. I just remembered this song when I was watching an interview with Fergie and she said she was in Wild Orchid. Dam, she’s fine at any age!
