Good to see little fixed blades get some reviews, for those of us that hate the maintenance of cleaning folders and getting rid of those grit sounds at the pivot. For me, fixed for outdoors all day, everyday. Folders for urban/indoors, sand and dirt free conditions. Quality steel in any usable form factor, is always a winner! Glad to see this blade being put through your mini gauntlet of tests.👍💯
Today is the day brother that I decided to order me a nice cold steel product for my neck your Reviews inspire me more than words can say brother ! Take Care Brother 👍🏻
Hi DBAD I have the vg1 version I got it a couple years ago paid $40 but since then I have seen the vg1 version as low as $30 . It's a great knife I edc'd it for a few months , I liked the sheath , there is movement almost like a dangler so sitting and getting in and out of a car was no problem but it's not a dangler so it stays in position so resheathing is easy. I have 2xl hands although it does not fill my hand it's super comfortable. It's very small but very capable I don't carry/use it much anymore BUT I still love it and will never get rid of it . Thanks for another great review . Thanks.
P.s. I have by far more cold steel brand knives and edged tools in my collection than any other brand ( by far ) mostly inexpensive budget stuff. I would recommend any of the cold steel stuff I have BUT wanted to say that if you don't have a cold steel KUDU and now a KUDU LITE. You should get them , yes they are cheap and the steel is low grade BUT I love them there is just something about them?? GET THEM IF YOU DON'T HAVE THEM ALREADY. Thanks Again
Finally, we are in the clear, size doesn't matter, lol. Jokes aside, i like this knife a lot. I take the master hunter out in the woods, but i could see this easy as a edc. Small = easy to carry, sturdy, easy to sharpen, but holds an edge a long time, what's not to like?
im a little late to this party , but, I picked up this little beauty the same time I bought the master hunter . my 5'5'' 117 pound wife saw it and immediately HAWGED me for it ! she doesn't like knives , at all, but every time she walks out of the house this little blade is on her person .
@@DonnieBAllDay yup , hold your thumb and index finger as far apart as you can , ask here how long is that , she'll tell , " 10 inches " that's why I married her , she's a genius !
My son has a version of that which is slightly larger. He likes it fairly well. Not his favorite by any means but likes it none the less. And me being new to your channel, I dont think I've ever seen you dislike a knife you have reviewed. Maybe I need to scroll through some more of your vids.
Hell yeah brother, I have had the slightly larger one in 3v the pendleton hunter not the mini and it is a thickkk ass unbreakable lil thing i absolutely love it for except and it just does work man
How do you find sharpening 3v? I have a cold steel Warcraft tanto in 3v, I find sharpening it a pain in the arse. I’ve gone back to carbon steel knives for an easier life.
@@chrisu.k9307 actually i have zero issues with sharpening cpm3v and prefer it to some of the much more difficult steels and i own so many knives in 3v i just love the stuff! Get yourself a diamond sharpal two sides handheld sharpener and then finish on a leather strop with 1micron diamond afterwards and you will have no issues at all and begin to see why so many truly love this steel... i will comment a link to Amazon for you, give it a try if you're at all familiar with hand sharpening then it should come naturally to you once you have the proper equipment...

That’s possibke . But everyone I’ve used has indeed been a Hit !! ( and I’ve handled many ). They will always be one of my favorite brands .
I got one of those a couple weeks ago just because and I will now take it with me for fine wood working and skinning small game and fillet fish but I got the wild west bowie for a main camp knife
I've actually been thinking of grabbing one of these. I figure it's a goodsize for edc, a neck knife if I decide to carry it like that, or as a great companion knife to my 7" or larger knives. I'm thinking of getting a 7" Hogue EX-F01 and this would be a great companion to that or my BK7. I might even spring for a nice piggy back carry system in kydex for the hogue and this mini hunter. I'm going to kydex my Hogue when I get it anyway because it comes with a nylon sheath which I hate. It's a very well made one, but it's still nylon. Just not a fan of them. Thanks for reviewing this little gem D-Bad.
Definitely want a new sheath for neck carry. The retention on the original sheath is not adaquate in my opinion. It's not that type of kydex sheath that has that audible snap when the knife is inserted and retained. However you can buy a proper kydex sheath for these that would be much better for belt or neck carry and I'll definitely be snagging one because the sheath disappointed me. The knife is great though but I will say mine did not come as sharp as his. Which is unusual for cold steel but I ended up running it on a stone and touched it up. The 3v had burrs after just a few swipes on a 600 grit stone... I'm not used to premium steels burring so quickly normally it'll take a few dozen swipes to get a burr on a premium steel. This was on par with 8cr it may have them burred faster. I haven't had the time to test the blade retention though. It may end up being a good steel ill just have to try her out it's just something I had noticed because it's unusual for a knife to burr that fast for me.
What you gonna do with that Donny? Pick your teeth with that thing? Your hands dwarfed a buck reaper to comical effect, but this actually looks like you're holding a golf tee
I love that Knife But its Sheath with fiberglas DULLING the crap out of that Knife was a deal breaker and I returned it I might buy it again because I love that knife so much, but have to spend another 30-60$ for a Custom Kydex sheath WITHOUT Fiberglas
Hey donnie, I'm looking for a small thin edge knife primarily for field dressing, skinning, and processing whitetail and small game. I will be knicking bone quite frequently. How do you think this one will hold up for the job? I'm torn between this 1 and the white river m1 or white river small game.. benchmade altitude price tag is quite steep for me as well. Let me know what you think of either of those options or if you could introduce me to a different knife I'd appreciate it greatly. Always enjoy the effort you put into your videos. Thanks.
Ok, here's something funny. I began reading your comment without looking what video you commented on. My first thought was, he needs to check out the pendleton mini hunter. Then I got to where you wrote, torn between this one... I looked up and saw where we were. Definitely this one
Re ji ji ty 😂 You speak my language .LOL I've been looking for a small edc fixed blade and this is on my radar. I am thinking of this one but I also found the JOKER knives Avispa ...Joker makes some crazy cool knives I never knew they even existed . Most of their vids are spanish so they seriously need some English reviewers.
@@DonnieBAllDay True but I've learned that 99% of what I do with my blades is woodwork which doesn't effect the edge much. Once I have the convex honed in on a knife they all pretty much only need stropped after hard use. BUT 3V at that price is just awesome ESP if you use it for skinning that's when a person will notice the difference the most. Animal skin and bone is brutal on a blade.
Do you own or carry any leathermans? I got my wave a few months ago and I can’t stop carrying it. It is my most carried knife/multi tool. I think you should get a leatherman.
@@DonnieBAllDay uh any knife can be sharp. I can make a cheap gas station knife as sharp as that knife. But regardless this would be a good knife for a responsible kid who is into the outdoors. It's safer than a folding knife because you don't have to worry about an improper lockup and then having the blade close down on fingers. You can also be rough on it without wearing it out nearly as fast. You don't really want to widdle wood with a folder for example because a small fixed blade will just work much better and you don't have to worry about wearing down the metal bits around the pivot that keep the blade nice and tight and end up with a poor lockup and blade play. Just overall less things to go wrong when using a fixed blade.
Obviously I wouldn't recommend giving a knife to an irresponsible kid but there are plenty of kids who are more than responsible enough and are possibly in some type of outdoor activity group. A sharp knife is a safe knife that goes for kids and adults as long as they take the proper safety precautions and are responsible. Plus it's not like the knife magically stays sharp forever it will dull and the kid will have to learn how to sharpen it or at least maintain it to prevent it from dulling too much in the first place. Heck kids shoot firearms lol not every kid is irresponsible and immature some are more responsible than adults.
