A little tip is to colour coordinate each separate stage ie: red = medics, orange = fire, green = food, etc and then use a cable tie clipped down to a nub on the zip opener to allow for easy recognition for your equipment layout especially in stressful situations or in emergency where you are guiding someone else to items in your pack who doesn’t know your pack layout.
I like the concept of a bug out bag and I still find all this interesting because I like hiking and staying in the wilderness when I have the chance to do so, but since I live in a quite big city and almost all my dear friends and family are here I'm pretty sure that if SHTF I'm not going to go alone on the wilderness but I'll stay here to give some help if needed. So I'm still figuring out an hybrid between a bug in bag but with some features needed in case I would still need to go around the city to reach my loved ones. But still, I think everyone should have a bug out bag. Just in case.
We agree, a bug out bag should be a standard for people to have. As for the matter you're bringing up in regards of leaving on your own or helping the people around you is very dependable on the scale of the problem in our eyes. If we're talking about for example a flood, heavy storm, etc you would obviously support your community, but if you consider a collapse of society or even a war, you will have to leave alone or in group. In our case, we've prepared for the very worst, whereas leaving is the only option. | Viper
I am still in the process of creating my bug out bag. I have in it items you don't have and you have items in yours I don't have. I shall take note of those things you have which I feel are necessary.

A while back , because with the whole Covid thing, rules change almost all the time. So i made a backpack to have in the car. With "emergency" things in case i get stuck and have to stay somewhere for a day. Or it takes longer to get back home when being outside the country. Set of clothes (in a vacuüm bag), Hygiëne and medical, simple food/snacks and water, Poncho and some small tools.
Good thinking. The whole Covid-19 situation & changing policies made us take a closer look into this type of stuff as well. Plus it's just interesting to know how to survive. 😉 | Viper
From time to time, Me and my team mates like to go for "a several days adventure walk" aaaaand... Yeah... Backpack is pretty heavy when you consider walking 30 km per day only through forest, hills, rivers etc. Most of the stuff you talked about are really essential, its a lot but still a minimum if you want to spend those days outdor comfortable. We preffer hamook over sleeping on the floor, we need trees to be able to sleep but its always a dry sleep :) Keep up the good work, glad there are more ppl with such a hobby or better to say, a passion 😉
Interesting video, still working my way through a basic setup for a survival backpack. But I’m still in awe one would need such a large pack. Still struggling and contemplating that. But maybe a fun idea to add would be a version of paracord called “firecord”. Basically it’s paracord but next to the seven strands it also has a wick in it. The idea is to use them as a piece of cord you put on a zipper but in a pinch you can use that for fire making. And you had the joke about a packable axe in your first line kit but wouldnt a small wedge be an option? I know Hultafors has those to split wood. You can use your knife no doubt but it was something that came to mind when seeing the joke. Ah well new ideas to contemplate. Keep up the work ;)
@@ReconBrothers Thanks for the compliment. But I reckon you guys have more experience. My knowledge mostly comes from reading and thinking and contemplating stuff and discussing it with like minded people. You guys have allready been out on survival with Instructor Delta. I still need to assemble a bag and follow a course.
Ok fair enough. We certainly recommend to at least do such a course, it helps a lot in terms of knowledge, experience & skill building. You might also encounter individual weaknesses you have to take in mind in the future. | Viper
I just got this "idea" that I want to know about you 2, do you prefer tracers or regular white bbs, and even then, do you use your flashlights to see them, or do you go "all in" and use matt black bbs to not even see them with flashlights?
Well, to start off, we never used a tracer before but we have nothing against it. Generally we use Xtreme Precision for our pistols which are whitebrowngreyish, and Green Devils for our GBBRs which have about the same color. We don't select bbs based on their color and generally don't use the reflection of bbs to see the path. This because we know how precise our guns are, how accurate our optics are and what we can achieve with it. One of the advantages of using 1 gun. ;) If we were to use a tracer, we would either use it for: -Indicating the level of the magazine, for example the 5th bb on the bottom in the real caps. -checking and correcting the trajectory. We then would make a mixture of Tracer and non tracer bbs to not constantly give away our location. (somewhere in the ration of 1/4 or 1/5, tracers to regular) I Instinct
@@ReconBrothers Thank you, I play indoor CQB myself, and don't use a scope/sight, therefore I use a tracer instead, but the ratio idea is actually pretty good!! Also, love how much detail you gave, maybe do a vid on airsoft attachments, and your thoughts and ideas for it? would love to see it, already love the other stuff, thanks!
I wanna recommend the waterpyrifier grayl. Same effect as the tablets and even better. Then i would say suncreme.... dont laugh, very important, even in winters and i would update the water bottle to one of klean kanteen single wall, good for fire and very strong and the brand that keeps me warm all winter, woolpower! I really wanna see you guys build a edc bag/get home bag! Really enjoyed the video and i look forward to more stuff of this!
Thanks for the tips! Certainly helpful to know. Will certainly look into that purifier, sounds interesting. Might do the EDC bags as well soon. | Viper
Thanks given me a few more ideas to move stuff around in my own kit. Possibly some things with hunting, do you have a small fishing kit and would you add any passive hunting tools like snare wire, rat traps, yo yo reels etc?
There are definitely still things that can be added like what you mention. But somewhere you need to draw a line and say that is all I'm carrying and I'll be creative for the scenarios I didn't cover. For example we never went fishing so we would rather use alternate techniques and leave that out. Snares are a good thing but, can be made and if your goal is to move to a certain place I'm not sure how much snares can help. (I don't have enough practical experience with snares.) I Instinct

Dump the wire saw, replace it with chain from a chainsaw, and make or buy PROPER handles for it.
You'll never go back to those thin wire saws again
