Hitting 4 homers in one game has been accomplished 18 times in Major League history (including the 6 players shown in this vid) --- among those not shown here, were Hall of Famers *_Lou Gehrig, Gil Hodges, Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt._* A truly herculean feat. It's truly amazing to think that none of the top 5 all-time home run leaders *_(Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Albert Pujols and Alex Rodriguez)_* ever managed to accomplish that.

10 random observations and factoids on four ding-dong games in MLB history:
1. Accomplished fewer times (18) than Official Perfect Games (24), but more frequently than unassisted triple plays (15).
2. The first player to ever do it was Bobby Lowe in 1894 for the Boston Beaneaters (Braves). The first AL player was Lou Gehrig in 1932, which was also the first time in both the 20th century, and the World Series era.
4. Six times in the Junior Circuit, 12 in the Senior Circuit. JD Martinez in 2017 became the only player to do it west of the Mississippi River (at Chavez Revine).
5. Six of the 18 players to do it are Hall of Famers (Gehrig, Delahanty, Chuck Klein, Gil Hodges, Willie Mays, Mike Schmidt).
6. Team that has done it the most: Filly Fanatics (3). Franchises surrendering the most four-bomb games? Not Yet Las Vegas Athletics, Tomahawk Choppers, Trolleydodgers, Red Legs, and Bodymore Murderlanders all have had it done to them twice.
7. Lefties: 6, Righties: 11. Hard-Hittin' Mark Whiten is the only switch-hitter to accomplish it (and the only St. Louis Cardinals player. Only two players have done it in a losing effort: Delahanty (1896), and Atlanta's Bob Horner in 1986. Oldest and youngest player to do it? Philadephia Phillies' Chuck Klein and Chicago White Sox' Pat Seery who were 31.277 and 25.123 respectively.
8. 6x by 1B, 5x by RF, 3x by CF, 2x by LF, 1x 2B and 3B. No DH, SS or C, and obviously no pitcher has ever done it (meaning, they were playing those positions the night they did it).
9. There were 47,401 days between the first time this was done on 5/30/1894 and present day (as of 4/1/2024). This happens on average every 2,633 days, or every 7.20 years. The longest drought ever was between Delahanty's on 7/13/1896 and Gehrig's on 6/3/1932, which was 13,108 days, or 35.887 years. The current drought is 2,401 days, or 6.57 years. The shortest span between events? 21 days between Mike Cameron on 5/2/2002 and Shawn Green on 5/23/2002.
10. Only five men have accomplished it during home games (13 on the road). This is incredibly difficult to do as it almost always means a player has to do it in eight innings (since you should be winning, and therefore bottom of the ninth is simply canceled). Bobby Lowe, Hodges, Horner and Scooter Gennett are the only NLers to do it at home. In the AL? Only Toronto's Carlos Delgado was at home.

Mariners clearly destroyed the White Sox in that game by the end of the first inning. That's how you know your team sucks. Wish the current Mariners were just as successful as that era's. Hopefully the rebuild will help.
