Sometimes mistakes work in your favour and the underexposure was certainly one of those. The photos show these machines in the best ' light ' which are nothing but instruments of death. Very well photographed Roger. Next time wear a light hat and drink a bit of water as you stroll around a hot country in the M.E. That sun, even in the autumn is lethal. Now I had neve rheard of this Agent Shadow 400. What is next, The Green Hornet? I guess it is another reincarnation of Fomapan 400 or Kentemere 400 emulsion. Very funky indeed.
Not only dehydration but lack of electrolytes. I live in the desert southwest here in Arizona USA, getting electrolytes is very important for dealing with heat.
I'm no doctor but I reckon maybe there was a bit of dehydration going on there... A technique that has always baffled me btw, is fill-in flash - might have helped with the sunny portraits and possibly a subject for a future video. Atb 👍
Had this type of vertigo yonks ago, was about your age too. Doc told me one of my ears was out of sinc with the other and I lost my balance. Worth checking with your doc, if you can get an appointment these days! Loved this videos, thanks.
I absolutely love air shows, I've been going to him for years here in the states mainly Indiana and Ohio. I've got a bunch of b&w negatives from air shows from 2007 and 2008 that I forgot about that I found the other day, I may have to print some 4x5s of all those and maybe a couple 8x10s, love your videos!
Looks like Agent Shadow worked out for you. Think I'll pick up some at a local photo shop here in Orlando. I'd avoided the stuff because of the silly name.
Maaaaan, I live in bahrain and have a couple of fm3as, it's my all time favorite camera and I've been following you because of it. I really didn't expect to find you in Bahrain... Sadly, I'm currently in Egypt or else I would have loved to show you around. If you're ever in Egypt, let me know and I'd love to be of any help.
Actually loved those underexposed shots! More moody and mysterious. If I ever win the lottery I would like to travel to europe and plan a week long shoot. However I'm stuck in this little town in central Minnesota and have no vehicle so everything I shoot is within walking distance and I really need to search hard for compositions. I am currently developing all the film I shot this summer and realized I did not record a single shot in my notebooks. I have 1 notebook for each camera and they are all blank...LOL. Now when I develop them I have no record for reference......doh!!!
I stand developed in Rodinal. The only thing I could do as I didn't have a clue how much I'd under exposed by. It was a very bright day which went in my favour
Great work, nice ideas. I struggle where I am now for work, middle of nowhere. Please consider some skin care next time and cover your noggin! Keep up the good work!
Regarding health and safety, the UK indeed has some reputation. I worked at a company a few years ago where if we sold a machine to the UK, we had to put all kinds of extra safety covers. Machines were tested by insurance companies of the client with a Frankfurter sausage which the would stick in any hole or gap. The sausage would represent a finger. Apparently loosing a finger is worth £15.000 or more and it was "popular" among certain social classes let's say. I don't know if the last part is really the reality but our machines were sausage tested, some of our service mechanics saw that we😂 It's terrible to design all this covers that make look the machine ugly, so we as engineers opted for signs "Would you dare to put you dick in there? No? Don't put anything else either" Sorry, not sorry for the totally of topic comment next time I'll talk about photography again 😂
😂😂. Best one here I had was the bar was closed at a wedding during the meal for health and safety! So no one could get a pint. Didn't want people moving around during the meal with glasses in hand and navigating around tables. Ha ha. Bizarre!!
I don't think anyone should learn to take the paper out of the developer before full developement. You have to realize that in case you feel to do that your exposure is wrong.
Did you ask them if they were Indian? Most likely, given that it is the gulf, those workers are from Bangladesh. Given you are a Brit and your history in South Asia you should know the difference.
A true work of love. There is more than just composing the picture and snapping the shutter.
thank you so much for this. nothing like a large black and white silver gelatin print. amazing work.
Thanks Pumper
At 8:54 I had to pause your video just to admire it a little longer..cheers
A good moment to photograph that was Carmine

Green Hornet 😂. Thanks Lensman
They drive on the correct side of the road!
I beg to differ on that, their steering wheel on the wrong side too

Happened again today out shooting in the cold UK! 🤦
Great series. Lightheadeness getting up my be orthostatic hypotension. I’m not an MD.
Oh wow! I get it often! Usually when I am out working hardly ever indoors
Many thanks for testing the film, Roger! Planes and Agent Shadow - what can be better?:
Thanks Stephen. Sadly I didn't have my trench coat and hat on!

Definitely a flash would have helped or even better still an assistant with a reflector.

That happens to me sometimes when I get up too quick, it's usually being dehydrated.

The beauty of film. Always got the negs 👍

I appreciate that!
🎶'Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun." 🎵
You need to carry water with you everywhere in that climate and drink drink drink
Wonderful series!
Thanks Ted
Sounds like postural hypotension that was brought on from the heat (which can cause hypotension in general)
Thanks. I read it up
They show the menace they are supposed to be, in that dark, good pictures

Same here where I live. But sometimes I go out and something unexpected happens that I capture.
LOL! Dizziness from quick changes in direction, especially from a bent-over position? It's called getting old, mate! 😊
What even when I'm approaching 34? 😂
These photo's and people are real m8!!! 🙂
How did you develop those under exposed images? Did you change your normal development because of the mistake?
I stand developed in Rodinal. The only thing I could do as I didn't have a clue how much I'd under exposed by. It was a very bright day which went in my favour
Great work, nice ideas. I struggle where I am now for work, middle of nowhere. Please consider some skin care next time and cover your noggin! Keep up the good work!
haha! is this the Ilford howto soundtrack? sounds like it! :D
Dehydration will do that to you 😅
A bottle of water would come in handy in heat like that. 😁
Great vlog! Did you get round to using your Yashica?
Yes I did. Colour film which I'm yet to develop. Waiting for more colour exposures before I develop though.
Orthostatic hypotension is the correct term I googled it 😂
Me too! Thanks.
Like dropped! Very informative chanel!
Thanks for the visit

Pretty disappointed we missed out on the "I got arrested infiltrating an Arab military base" video.
The next episode would have been "I was infiltrating at an Arab airbase and now go denied access to UK" 😁

True!
I would of taken a photo of the photographer taking a photo of nothing.😁

"When you can't find nothing" Really??? "When you can't find nothing" ⤵
