Hands down. There was always something for everyone. One would just plan to go to the movies and not worry too much about finding something they'd want to see.
You could go to the dollar movie back then and damn near every movie was worthwhile. Now they charge crazy amounts and most of the movies ain't worth shit.
I just rewatched that scene. My only thought is that he doesn't say anything to the kid, just "i'm a cop" to the other cops when they show up. So maybe he just didn't catch it. It would've been cool if he changed his voice just for those few words though. The cops who show up wouldn't notice, but the audience would.

My only issue with the film is the fact that the kidnappers didn't cover Sean's ears while he was bound, and then were constantly talking around him, even though they're smart enough to use a voice changer for phone calls. It just doesn't seem like the kind of mistake that would be made in real life by people like that. Yes, I'm sure it could be explained away if you try hard enough, but it just never sat right with me. A minor nitpick, the movie is still amazing.

@@joelfrancois9133 he indeed did say that. Then it could’ve been a perfect sequel for Tom to go all out and kill Shaker like a father would do should a ransom deal go wrong for his son. Regardless I love this film as is.
At first, Gary Sinise wanted nothing to do with portraying a kidnapper, because he had a child who was about Brawley Nolte’s age. I remember one time earlier earlier in the movie when Gary Sinise said “Go check on the kid”. I am sure his character meant “Make sure he’s still handcuffed to the bed”, but it may also be that Gary Sinise broke character for a moment, and meant “Go check on Brawley, and make sure he’s okay”. I’m sure that when the cameras weren’t rolling, he talked to his young co-star and asked him if he was okay. I think Nick Nolte was on the set one time, and I think he comforted his son because he was genuinely scared. It’s very hard for me to see a kid crying and not be able to help them, whether on TV, or in person.

It sure is the look on his son face spoke volumes

Gary Sinise was a BRILLIANT villain...absolute perfection
Who was more brilliant: him or Kang the Conqueror?
If there’s an expendables 5, Gary Sinise should play the main antagonist.
For reportedly being an extraordinary human being IRL, he plays villains quite well.
I hated him being a bad guy though. I liked him so much in his good guy roles. That's the sign of a great actor though. He's brilliant either way.

Why is this movie not streaming anymore?
Excellent question.
Right
Because Hollywood and streaming service black list Mel for passion of Christ
I kinda wished Shaker got away with the reward money so that he could return in a sequel to hold the kid ransom for 10x the money lol.
But he said to Tom, if anything goes wrong, he’ll return to kidnap Sean again and this time it won’t be for money.
