Johnny Depp's attorney torpedoes Amber Heard witness testimony with rapid-fire objections

  • Johnny Depp's former attorney Adam Waldman attempted to give a deposition in the actor's defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Throughout the testimony, Depp's attorney objected and instructed Waldman not to answer questions because it violated attorney-client privilege. Heard has countersued Depp, claiming that comments made by Waldman, while representing Depp, calling abuse allegations a hoax was defamatory towards her.

Actually they’re being paid by their client in civil cases. I’m sure in this case both parties are suing the other for attorney fees. Nevertheless, the attorney is still wasting Amber’s time (which both sides agreed to limit to a certain amount of time) and her money. I mean she asks a question and it’s objected to, in fact she knows the witness can’t answer because she moves on without the judge ruling on the objection. She then proceeds to ask basically the same question but about a different situation and/or circumstances. If I’m Amber, I’m calling a timeout because I want to know why are we asking things we know he can’t answer? Isn’t there something else they can do which is more useful of their time and resources?

Because each of those questions s are a clear topic of communication between johnny depp and his lawyer based on his answer. He's consistently reiterating that he can't answer that specific question because it falls under attorney client communication. That means they talked about it, likely in the respective timeline she's trying to establish. It isn't a game of connect 4 where whoever gets 4 objections in a row wins. It's a bit more nuanced than that. She's building a narrative.

I will say that from what I’ve seen elsewhere asking similar questions (same question worded different) is a valid tactic to get the witness to slip either with a different answer or answering a question they didn’t want to answer. The problem here is twofold, first are the massive amount of lies amber seems to have told her lawyers ahead of time. The second is that they seem to be terrible at getting those lies out though regular questioning. The only thing they can think to do is violate the rules of the court or apparently watching this make others violate the law. (Edited for grammar, I think I got it)

tl:dr;, theyre really screwing themselves over and these ridiculous "witnesses" of theirs and such mostly just possibly annoy the Jury (the actual Scorekeepers of this game) more and more

Amber’s team are running down the clock because they know they don’t have a case. They’ve got about 9-10 hours left if that and even if someone is in the middle of answering one of their questions the judge has made it clear that she will stop them when the time is up. Johnny’s team still has a good few hours left, a lot more then Amber’s because they’ve not wasted any of their allotted time. But same thing applies to them once their time is up regardless if they are in the middle of something the judge is going to stop them when the alarm goes off saying they’ve ran out of time. I don’t think Amber’s team is going to have enough time for closing arguments because they’ve still got a week of questioning and more witnesses including recalling Johnny. Next week is the last week then it’s up to the jury. But going from Amber’s behavior, all the evidence proving she’s a liar along with all her witnesses. Her legal team screwing up multiple times and Johnny’s team absolutely destroying and discrediting every single one of Amber witnesses including Amber and her sister and the fact that she doesn’t have one piece of solid evidence to back up her claims she’s not going to win this. Amber alone has done enough to piss off the jury and on the second day of the trial it didn’t help that her legal team lied to the judge about one of Johnny’s witnesses while having someone with them who was posting live from the courtroom and the judge was livid about them lying to and misleading her. And her finding out what someone with them was doing and had security escort the woman out and not only banned her from the courtroom but the courthouse altogether.

Amber’s attorney is asking the same question in 50 different ways and getting the same response 50 different times. This is literally a waste of time, and it doesn’t take a legal expert to see it. Don’t understand why/how the judge let this ridiculous line of questioning to go on as long as it did. It’s like hearing a broken record over and over again.

This is the line of questioning you’d only see by a lawyer who knows they’re in a losing battle and is PRAYINGGGGG a witness, or Johnny Depp’s team, slips up and implicated themselves… 95% of these questions are blatantly unanswerable, and she knows that. She’s just hoping the witness speaks out of turn and implicates himself and/or Johnny Depp.
