    The game changer. This is how your really supposed to hit the speed bag. This makes more sense.

      Surprised nothing was said about shoulder endurance. The speed bag is indeed a gamechanger.

    As the rope, one of the most beautiful exercises in boxing, it without a doubt gives you and improves everything that is essential to boxing - sense of rhythm, speed, concentration, coordination, plasticity of the brain, then for the rope - agility, footwork, speed, hand coordination and legs, sense of rhythm, fitness, working shoulders and hands too, whatever you want more than one workout!?

    Thank you for this very useful information. I was undecided as to buy one for my home gym or not to purchase one. I like all you said and at 73 yrs old I thought it would not only strengthen my arms but provide some fun. I was lucky to find you! Many thanks for taking the time to make this video.

    I hit my speed bag 3 to 4 times weekly. Best work out is seeing how long you can hit it. 3 minutes sessions are easy. I did a half hr today non-stop. You can feel the back and shoulders getting a good workout. Today I used my title yellow 5×8. I really like the title dark green 4×7. My speed bag is little higher to give my shoulders a extra workout. Whenever you see Guys doing tricks the speed bag is extremely low.

      I lift feet up/ down as I hit the bag, side-to-side too. Use it to warm up.

    Like the blinking part, and agree with all the rest totally. A fighter never has perfect angles and opportunities, and moving the speed bag all around in many different ways accustoms your brain responding to that. For the ordinary person the same benefit would be there, just as with any mental activity, or in this case mental/physical.

    While the speed bag is a relatively decent old school training aid, I prefer using the double ended bag by far. If set up to the proper height (just above your chin) it allows the fighter to build timing and accuracy as well as movement. Secondly, for anyone using a dbl. ended bag at home, the noise level will not wake the dead like a speed bag will. Thirdly, a dbl. ended bag can be strung horizontally to allow the fighter to work on uppercuts effectively.

      Oh boy, so the speed bag gave you the confidence/skill to not just whoop him but as a self defense excuse, cuz if you look up urban dictionary of speedbagging, um, well its not what I wanted my son to learn about boxing, since I'm long winded (talk too much) figured he could do some research himself. Then, share with me what he learned instead of tuning my lessons out, ya know. Have him teach me as a method to help him learn. But, now I'm putting together a Momster approved playlist. I never really appreciated the speed bag until I went to prison and this Mexican gal would make it look like effortless and she had this flow and rhythm like she was dancing with it. She owned that bag and lucky for me she liked my goofy white aas and patiently taught me a few things

    The noise makes them unpleasant when I'm trying to work with kids. I put sandbags on top of the platform to cut the noise in half. The main benefit of the speed bag is confidence building. Kids feel like real boxers when they master it. Other than that, I can take it or leave it.

    • @ubcboxingful
      @ubcboxingful  6 лет назад +1

      daniel higgins I totally get where you’re coming from. Can I offer a suggestion? Rather than letting kids hit it randomly, try relegating a specific time for it. When it is THE focus for one or two rounds, you might catch some nuances that you want to expand on and then“the noise” becomes more rhythmic and feels like less of a distraction.
