Foraging 100% of My Food for a Month - Day 18 Update

- For one month I am foraging 100% of my food. That means no grocery stores, no restaurants and not even a garden! Every. Single. Bite.
It’s the dream of millions. To “live off the land” and never have to take a trip to the grocery store. And through the pandemic more and more Americans have experienced the instability of our food system and desire to break free.
But is it possible to break free? I am here to show that it is.

Robin what an amazing positive example of making a huge difference on your patch, saving money, no waste, finding good food and good nutrition from foraging. You are awesome, innovative thoughtful and SO inspiring!
😊you are so amazing person
I've considered foraging my food for a week as an experiment and you've proven that it's totally possible! Thank you so much Rob, I reckon someone could live like this
I tried foraging for food for a week, but I failed, as I tried it in the spring, in New England, with no preparation. It was mostly just dandelion flowers and greens, pine needles (tea), and a few sunchokes (not wild).
@@thewiseturtle In October, mushrooms are everywhere, if you want, now would be an amazing time to learn some good mushrooms that are more substantial, like giant puffballs and puffballs, amethyst deceivers are really really tasty too. I'm going to do it in October but it depends where you live
@@toffinabof1353 Yeah, I've lived with very little money for over a decade, and lived off grid in Maine in the woods, so I'm very familiar with edible mushroom hunting. The easiest for me to find at one point was the spiky puffball. Little adorable boops of food. I'm pretty sure I found some matsutake once. I don't think it was amazing, but it was up there with shiitake in flavor.
@@thewiseturtle That's amazing, I really want to go offgrid, did you buy most of your food and water?
@@toffinabof1353 I got most of my food for free (most of it was not wild foraged, though) in various ways. And who buys water? It comes from the sky and ground, for free. There was a well where I live, and I often collected rainwater/snow because the hand pump didn't work a lot of the time.
Keep going Rob! You're changing the way people think about their food one city at a time
Your life so good with natural simple life 😊.
Brilliant
Keep it going Rob! You are such an inspiration to so many, I refer to you all the time when having discussions with people about not enough money, not enough of anything!! Your life is so rich, sending all our love xoxoxo
I agree! He's such an inspiration!
Are you okay after Hurricane Ian? Please let us know how you are. Much love from Texas!
So inspiring!! I am making tacos today with black walnuts I picked up next to my apartment 😃
Hope those are pesticide free yards...
When you ate the leave like tha🐢
Soo Nice challenge !! Thanks to share your happyness !
You always make me Smile Rob 😃😃😃😃

nibble other people's trees?😂
That is super healthy eating! You are so wonderful!
I doubt everyone can do that.... most people still need to work 8hours a day so they cant be out stealing berries off random people's trees all day.
I'm sure if you spend the whole day.... in very select parts of select cities, you might be able to survive... but in MN where I live... there is only 2 months where food is being grown the rest of the year we are waiting for the snow to melt and waiting for the plants to germinate and grow to a harvestable size
Yo tampoco podría hacerlo, vivo en un desierto.
...work...doubt...steal...SCARCITY is SCARY, huh
@@TitocianoGray Seguro que no todos dieren hacer eso, pero mucho pueblos han vividos por centurios en desiertos... ; )
I live in Minneapolis and I grow food year round. Outdoors from april-november and inside the rest of the year. I know a family in War Road and in Baudette (where the winter is harshest) that grow for about 5-6 months outdoors. What part of Minnesota do you live in where people can only grow food for 2 months?
No one actually has to work (for an employer) ever. It's a choice to compete for money. You can always choose to collaborate with the world, instead, and work for life, doing what you love. For Rob, that work is teaching anyone who's curious about better options for living well.
That's awesome. True organic food which we pay for for a lot of money when u can get it for free. 🥰🥰
Great
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well, your hair is growing back in! Guess you're doing something right! Our bodies have innate amazing healing powers if we give ourselves the proper nutrition. 👍
Keep healthy Rob :)
We got a ton of food up here in North Idaho, it’s just getting a little chilly.
i’m just thinking about all the dog pee on those lawns 😭😭
_just thinking about all the dog pee on those lawns_
"all for the best"😂
The shift is happening people will be more like this it’s called new earth ❤
What about pesticides and lead from road proximity?
Waw I. Want to try
Last time I was in Manhattan I foraged wild raspberries.
RIP
Dearest Rob, i sincerely enjoy watching your programmes while munching on my Big Mac...
How long wild foreging is being on? Any time of sicknesses during this period gut pain, diaria etc..
Maybe some people can eat wild, that's great. But some others like me in the past years tried wild plants I got instant sick with lot of digestive issues.. nor raw nor even cooked..
How can someone develop such gut to eat wild plants, while vegetarian animals like goats have 4 stomachs, chickens 2 to3 and humans one.
Farming was invented for a reason. Wild edibles are simply not available everywhere or all year long. In addition, if everyone started foraging then there would eventually be fights over scarce edibles.
I don't think he wants us to stop farming
Uh-huh, and industrialized food production is destroying the soil, contaminating our food, and polluting our air, we'll see how long it lasts
A very nice day to you too, I think your thinking too complicated about this, expecting alot that no one actually said. Also, if everyone was doing it we would need much less from the supermarket. If everyone was planting their gardens full with edibles and keep chickens for their protein, we would need even less. Every bit counts. Try looking between black and white because between black and white there is every shade of colour you can find.
Might wanna rinse off those berries. They are spraying chemicals everywhere.
Before the intention of a grocery store people had to do this
i'd love to see some kind of nutritional analysis to see what nutrients you get a lot of, anything that's lacking, and how significant a difference it is from grocery store food.
the dear hit by a car he mentioned has the most nutrients than everything else he ate including the grass he was eating which he said is nutritious but didnt care to mention the animal, foraging food is good but i wouldnt eat leaves or grass bro just eat wild animals and fruit for nutrition
@@Davidchristman i mean leaves can have plenty of nutritional value, i'm just curious how different it actually is from wild greens as opposed to store greens
@@ArtichokeHunter its definitely more nutritious than store bought greens because they havent been cultivated
His hair is growing back in, if you compare to old videos of his. So I think he's doing something right.🤔👍
Btw, balding is often caused by plastic chemicals we ingest from drinking out of plastic bottles. The chemicals (BPA, etc...) that leak from plastic bottles mess with our hormones and give us xeno-estrogens, (look it up).He started balding right around the time when he was making videos of traveling cross-country on his bike, from LA to Florida, and drinking from those plastic water bags that are found in backpacks (SMH at those unhealthy plastic bags😳).
I love what you do, however, a little concerned that you and a dog or kitty may find the same patch of grass.
legit eating roadkill tf
Recession proof.
Who's actually gonna come up to you?
I saw Rob in Laguna Beach a few months ago, many people were coming up to him
is it even legal to eat other people's trees and lawns?😂
sure, this guy can forage and keep himself alive. be prepared to lose a lot of weight. not always a bad thing, but in this case it will not be a sustainable way of living.
I am a Breatharian. I only live on fresh air. I used to drink water but I even weaned myself from that.
i just sprayed those and my dog peed on them, and she has a yeast infection.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Take a shower first please. Lolol
Great but chew with your mouth shut.
if you're in a sunny warm place, don't eat the deer kill, unless you just watched it get hit. to many chances for disease. but stay hungry my friends 🤣🤣🖖
