The music got me also. I love the Kompa from back in the day, the winning guitar really set Haiti on as unique and special, distinguishes it as it own from its neighbors,, Back in New York during the late 70s everyone would know when the Haitians would roll in down Eastern Parkway by the music, strong, vibrant and pulsating making everyone want to be a part. I love the Haitian culture and its people, Sure to visit soon and get a feel of the genuine experience and vibes.

Thank goodness. There's no colonial statue, but pure Afrikan fighter's that we Ayitien should be proud of. Thank you very much for displaying that @ SeeJeanty.
1964 was my first visit to Le Plaza when Haiti and PaP was knock-out stunningly gorgeous! Champs de Mars was dense with mature trees. Art was everywhere. Having been involved with a number of Haitian hotels over time we know that Le Plaza is a survivor. This address has been host to countless Balls, important events, and at times of stress an island of safety and comfort. There's a lot of history at Le Plaza that reflects the participation of so many cultures and personalities. Jeanty can't tell it all. Do go by for a meal, a beverage, or a week!
I lovvvvved it. A show that all of my kids all sat around quietly to hear. My 9nyr old grab a notebook to take notes for the champ de mars show. Keep them coming please. By the way how can we donate to the st Louis du sud project. My kids are ready to empty out the piggy bank. Thank you for doing this for us.
Le Plaza Hotel is hands down the nicest hotel in central PAP. Full delicious breakfast is included. Not just cold cereal and some pastry. No, you are treated to a delicious hot breakfast with a variety of juices and Haitian coffee - best coffee in the world. Plus the staff will treat you like royalty. You're in for an amazing experience. I can't wait to go back.

When I went to Haiti at 1978 my grand uncle live in walking distance from that area I visited the chame Mars and rented a motorcycle. they used to be a movie theater there?
Love this, I never knew this about Champ de Mars. I can't wait to go back to Haiti, I know things will change soon with the grace of God. Thank you. This was probably my favorite video.

SeeJeanty......OMG, I can't believe how destructive the Champ de Mars is today or the last few decades. SeeJeanty, you wouldn't believe how beautiful the Champ de Mars, Port-au-Prince or Haiti for that matter used to be during the time of President Jean Claude Duvalier, lots of beautiful flowers, the water fountains were open, the grass was green, the whole place was clean and secured. We didn't have democracy and we weren't filthy rich as a country and yes the Tonton Makouts were on our backs but Haiti was stable economically, politically and cleaned. I would definitely stay at the Plaza when I visit Haiti and it is so close to all the major historical monuments. I can't wait to see the new National Palace and I hope they will rebuild it exactly the way it was.
