Nice! I own the OP2 which I was told it was from 1979…it tracks at 2.5 grams and it sounds really good even though I had an after market stylus on it. In my opinion it sounds really good with disco, funk, and Latin music. I don’t own any jazz records, but I’d imagine they would sound good with my empire stylus. The second stylus on the video I’ve seen it listed on eBay for $20 which is a steal to me because empire had really good cartridges!
Wow, atrocious first cartridge. I'd even go so far to say it imitates the sound of a worn/chipped stylus ! They certainly had come a long way by the time 750 was released. Very interesting...
Wow. The first one made my hair raise up on the back of my neck. Very uncomfortable to listen to. The second one was much better and pleasant to listen to. Many years of trial and error make a difference!
It's no wonder why the SHURE M3D cornered the market during the late 50's early 60's. That early Empire was trash. I've heard much better sounding ceramic cartridges. Why would Empire even sell such trash?

I like the empire 88 sound. It is thick maybe due to heavy tracking force but has the grit to it.

Yeah it’s a good cart if you can find one. I have the OP2, and use it a lot on my videos and it sounds really good with the records I collect.
