Thank you Steve and Michele, that was rife with memories, for me again! I remember the early days, growing up in Ooty, when my dad used to take us on morning walks.(We lived on the other side of that same hill!) We often walked up to King's Cliff via a short cut, from where we stayed, through the forest, where we'd look for pug marks of carnivores that roamed about at night, and dad would tell us which animal they belonged to. Once at The Police Quarters, we'd spend a good amount of time looking over at the haze covering Ooty Town. It was mesmerising, to see beautiful Ooty still covered in a blanket of haze! Dad would punctuate that time, pointing out different species of birds, ( he was an avid bird watcher.) He'd explain how the swallows that flew so high in the sky on a good day, wouldn't come down to land even once during the entire day, eating and drinking as they flew along. He told us that if you ever see a group of swallows flying really low, it could mean only one thing..... It was going to rain! I can't tell you how 'spot on,' he was with that information, because when I was growing up, (and had no access to weather maps,) to know if it was going to be a good day outdoors, for, let's say, a picnic, or some other outdoor activity, we'd be able to judge very accurately, as to whether that was a viable option or not, just by observing the swallows.( Ooty can have four seasons in a single day!) There were hawks, and kites too, that my dad pointed out, that could literally hover in one spot for quite a while, which always amazed us. There were hundreds of woodpeckers, night jars, and owls, also spotted on those early morning walks. (Ooty was unspoiled then!) St. Stephen's Church had swallow's nests in the porch. Oh! By the way, you missed a trip up to the belfry at St Stephen's. They have a lovely set of bar bells and wooden mallets, that can hammer out very pretty tunes, depending on what the occasion was at the church. We were always a little apprehensive, climbing all the way up to the top of the tower, where they had a flag pole. Ooty looked magnificent from up there too! We'd always get to church early on Sunday mornings, just to hear the gardener ring those bells. ( He was deaf) but had been taught the sequence he'd need, to play a tune on any occasion, and that old man knew hundreds of tunes, and we were fortunate to have heard them being played on those bar bells.
There was a huge Eucalyptus tree behind you in one of those shots in this video. That tree had a family of giant squirrels that lived on its branches. They were a nutty brown, and awfully huge. They seem to have disappeared now. I wish I was in Ooty when you visited, I could have done so much, to have made your trip that much more special. Well, there most certainly, has to be a next time! (For the good times!) I simply loved that track you played on this clip. What's it called? It was so easy to listen to, and the tune, so catchy, I fell in love with it right away. Thank you Steve and Michele, this was definitely the highlight of my day, today! I know for sure, that today is going to be great because of you. Do continue enriching our lives. You have a gift, that no one else has, and it's important to recognise that, because no matter what anyone says, you are making a difference in so many of our lives, and we owe you more than a debt of gratitude. You are special, and blessed, and we love you. God bless, and stay blessed! (We're praying for you everyday!) Two very special people! Oh, I completely forgot to mention the siren you heard. We used to call it ' the hooter.' it goes off every day at these times, 6 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon, and again at 6 in the evening. On other days it can sometimes go off during the day to mark an occasion. For example, it goes off at a certain time on the 30th of January, to mark the time Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated. Everyone then stands up to a minute of silence. It was used extensively during the second World War, to signal air raids. So much for just rambling on. Thank you for sharing our memories!

@@sharononeill8729 Thank you Sharon, our childhood was extremely lovely. We may not have had much, growing up, but the knowledge, and instruction we received back in those early stressful days, stand us in good stead today! God bless you!
