Another trick is to pull the glue from the other side with a shop vac...if you have access on the back side. Not always necessary but a good way to get more glue into the crack.
Just a little tip, mix the sawdust and the glue together first to make your wood filler, and then press it into the gap. Obviously, the best thing to do is work on making more precise cuts, but we've all been there in our woodworking journey, and even those of us who have been working wood for years still use this trick. 👍🏽
I love this! Can you do a canvas frame tutorial? I make the frames and I triple checked the miter saw for 45 degrees, but it still makes gaps when I glue the together
I'm about to try this out on a bunch of brad holes. Wondering if you found if it's better to let the sawdust/glue mix fully dry before sanding? I have plenty of sawdust from cutting up the lumber. Only difference is it wouldn't be from an adjacent spot on the same board so the color might differ slightly.
Could you make a clip on how to fix lifting wood. I have been given an oak table that has water damage and part of it has started to lift. I don't want to do something wrong and make it worse. Thanks
You can also go online and find a used old school jointer, take the time to calibrate and set the knives properly, then don’t have to worry about the large gaps
Well I'm Screwed! Already gave my cat houses roof 3 coats of stain. Tried to dowel and clamp as best I could but that 1mm gap between 2 slats out of 10 irks me.
So I made a mistake and put wood glue in a similar crack but a lot of it dried on the sides . I sanded it down after but it’s still there. Then I stained it with a dark walnut stain but it shows right through the stain and now our new bar countertop looks terrible. How can I get rid of the wood glue showing through!
Genuine comment here. I don't know anything about working with wood, but I'd like to think it's so you don't cut your fingers. Painted black you have better vision. My humble opinion.
There are 61 comments. I haven’t read them yet. I’m guessing at least 10 are about nail polish because hobby woodworkers are just really chill live-and-let-live people - edit only 8 not 10. Maybe people are not as judgemental as I thought.
i cant trust a guy wearing nail polish...
Ok...

Small suction cup works to manually force it through aswell
Nice fingernails ma'am.😂
Thanks honey
Love the nail polish

Yeah, don’t do this unless you’ve got a significant gap.
This has never worked for me.
I bought a butcher block from Home Depot and this is the first step on their guide -- using the sawdust to make a filler using the glue.
Awesome, Simple fix! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Holy crap, using sawdust is brilliant! I wish I had seen this video years ago. Thanks for sharing.
Liquid nail matches well
That’s great! Love it. Do you sand it wet? Wouldn’t that spread the glue around?
Sand it wet. The sawdust combines with the glue.
Good tip! My grandpa showed me this tip on the bed of our truck we built
What’s with the nails 💅
All I see is nail polish with a male voice..
Yes. Yes you do. Cheers!

do a 44.5 degree angle so it hugs the perimeter ...you welcome =)
Thank you for the info, I have a dented windowsill, this will help!
Nice I needed this today!

Don’t let it dry first. The mixing during sanding is the magic.
@@BuildDadBuild thanks!
How long does the glue need to dry? Thank you
Do it wet
Interesting
As long as a fresh coat of nail polish😂😅😂😅
Could you make a clip on how to fix lifting wood. I have been given an oak table that has water damage and part of it has started to lift. I don't want to do something wrong and make it worse. Thanks
Do we have to wear black nail polish to fix the gap?
Nope….any color will do. 👍🏻
How does the repair take stain or dye?
Pretty good
I came for the nail polish comments. I was not disappointed.
you could use a manicure 💅
You do the sanding while the glue is still wet?
Yes
Can you apply water base stain after ?
Yes
Do you have matching dress with your nails?
I have a kilt.
@@BuildDadBuild pretty cool.
I have wood filler and bondo for wood I’ll definitely use the saw dust truck
can you do this with laminated wood
I don’t think so. But honestly? I don’t know for sure.
You can also go online and find a used old school jointer, take the time to calibrate and set the knives properly, then don’t have to worry about the large gaps
Haha...try that with pine. LOL
Can I sand it right away or do I need to wait until it dries?
wait until it dries. But it dries pretty fast.
@@BuildDadBuild Great! Thank you!
Can you see the line if you paint it?
What are you going to paint it with? Also it won't take stain.
All I can say is wow
Does it work with birch plywood faces ? I have a gap to fill 😫
Yup
Short and nice
Would you still be able to stain that?
It doesn’t take stain great. If it’s small enough you don’t notice it. If the gap is bigger, you’ll see it more.
@@BuildDadBuild thank you
What if the gap if alot wider?
Don’t do this
I would have put less pressure on the tube letting the glue run into the Crack. Just saying......
NOT WHAT YOU DO BUT
HOW YOU DO IT!
Good for you!

When did men start painting their nails?
Men actually started painting their nails before women. 🤷♂️
@@BuildDadBuild Ok, if you say so
Actually, history says so. Look it up. 👍🏻 reading is fundamental.
Hey Brother, be careful with these videos. You might get a good reputation for something other than burning things. Rock on
Don’t use wood glue to fill in cracks, use C A glue with an activator, it’ll dry in seconds and be stronger than wood glue.
but it doesn't take stain and is much more of a bitch to sand since it's harder than the wood, nah fam
Only problem is it won't take stain well
Takes stain GREAT!
Another trick would be to not wear nail polish dude
why?
I think your nail polish could use some gap fixing too
Nails looking good! 🔥🔥🔥
Nail polish 🤨
Alright bro, we get it you painted your finger nails
Yes I do. 👍🏻👍🏻
no self respecting man paints his nails...dont pander to blue collar crowd if you dont want blue collar feedback
I love you, man.
Nic nails ol boy
Thanks homie!
A grown man painting his fingernails, WTF? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Jesus painted his nails...
Why didn't you just fill the crack with your nail polish? I remember when that stuff was exclusively for women's nails.
It’s not. 👍🏻
@@BuildDadBuild it's for women and gays.

Could you give your audience some background on the nail polish project on a man's fingernails?
No
@BuildDadBuild why not? I'm intrigued to know the concept behind the nail polish of any color, let alone black...
Girlfriend 😂you gota deep voice
thank you bro. you definitely helped me but i recommend you remove the nail polish. god is watch brother.
The nail polish distracted me I have to find another video
That's too bad. But I know some of us lack the focus to pay attention to what's right in front of us.
Not going to listen to a guy that paints his nails
Awwww buddy...did your little masculinity get hurt? LOL
Rule #1 in construction is don't take advice from someone who wears nail polish.......what a joke
