you hit the nail right on the head. It's definitely Neca that got the hype going. I don't think we would have ever gotten Shredder's Revenge or a major motion picture with characters like Ray Filet and Wingnut if not for Neca kicking off the TMNT nostalgia hype craze. Action figures do so much more for franchises than people think.
@brendansrambles9464 It's hard to say that Playmates isn't the biggest thing to happen to turtles, but I would say NECA is the biggest thing of the modern era. NECA has given us tons of characters we've never gotten before along with so much other stuff that we've always wanted like toon/movie accurate figures.
I always enjoy your videos. I will agree, it's the toys and collectibles that keep a lot of our childhood favorites alive. I will also agree that the cartoon is nothing special, unless, it's special to you. I watch a lot of cartoons from my childhood, Marshall Bravestar, TMNT, Street Sharks, Biker Mice from Mars, etc., and unless you already like them, or have a similar nostalgia to them as we do, it probably wont 'wow' factor many adults! But, I just got my Glow in the Dark exclusive S7 Slash two days ago, and he is absolutely gorgeous!! I haven't even taken him out of the box yet because he is just impressive! Looking forward to finishing some other dioramas so I can get to this guy!! Keep up the great work, and keep enjoying our nerdy hobby!!

My slash is scheduled to be here Tuesday I can't wait to get him I feel like I'm literally the last to get mine. Everyone seems to be pretty stoked on him. Good luck finishing those dios.
That's definitely true for me! I was first exposed to TMNT through the cartoon, but I definitely connected way more with the Playmates line. Chasing down the new figures was at the heart of my love for TMNT. Watching the cartoon was secondary, and worked more as a supplement to the toys, just waiting to see what the new characters would be like.
@AutomaTom1939 same for me I saw the cartoon first and got my figs shortly after but they definitely hold my strongest memories. I never even saw half of the popular characters episodes until I was an adult but the only figures I didn't remember from being a kid were the only the ones from the last coupe years of the line.
I agree the toys might be the best part. Since a lot of us had them from presents or picked them us at garage sale. So its great to see the toys you had as a kid back again with better articulation.

@eddiemorales7450 thanks dude! I'm pretty neutral it looks very similar to Shredder's Revenge and the Toxic Crusaders one that's coming out as well. Depending on the price, I may grab it. I still haven't even played the DLC for Shredder's revenge yet.
What if, Playmates remade their vintage line in their updated Ronin style: with the hinged elbows and knees instead of re- re- releasing the same old outdated toys? Ya know, what if they made an effort to put something good out? I see you still haven't found Huncback Leo, are you going to hold off and wait for Creature Leo and Wolfman Raph?
@KootenaiKing that's literally my dream scenario. I know they're taking the easiest route doing what they're doing, but I feel like if they did an origins style line it would go gang busters. I've been waiting to stumble across the hunchback but still haven't seen him since he originally dropped. I'll def grab him at some point, but I'm going to get the creature and wolfman as well, along with Phantom Casey.
Lol mutant mayhem isn’t even ninja turtles. They have absolutely no ties to ninjitsu or the foot clan. They’re teenage mutant 80s karate video turtles. Without the original formula it’s just something else. I do like the movie but it’s not the movie I’ve been waiting for.
