I just learned today that my 3rd-great-grandfather, John Bennett, was a sea captain -- a master mariner who lived right there at the River Dee, from whence the Royal Charter was launched. According to my family records, John launched it, and his wife Jane christened it. She had smashed a bottle of champagne against the side of the ship for "good luck."
The gentleman being interviewed in this video had found a snuff box with the name "Edward Bennett" on it. The brother of my 3rd-great-grandfather (my 3rd-great-granduncle) is named Edward Bennett. He didn't die on the Royal Charter, and that snuff box might or might not have been his, but Edward also definitely was from Connah's Quay, on the River Dee.
