Lyrics
This wasn't supposed to happen
I was happy by myself
Accidentally you seduced me
I'm in love again
I lie in my bed, totally still
My eyes wide open, I'm in rapture
I don't believe this, I'm in love again
This wasn't supposed to happen
I've been hit with your charm
How could you do this to me?
I'm in love again
I lie in my bed, totally still
My eyes wide open, I'm in rapture
I don't believe this, I'm in love again
This wasn't supposed to happen
This wasn't supposed to happen
Ég og hann, ég og hann við segjum
Ég og hann, ég og hann við finnum til
Ég og hann, ég og hann við segjum
Ég og hann, ég og hann við finnum til
A small story which never happened
I said ouch! This really hurts
That can't be this has been
Practiced for millions of years
Therefore we are
Yes, but I, I'm a boy
A small story which always happens
I said ouch! This really hurts
This could well be
But this has
Been practiced for millions of years
Therefore we are
Yes, but, you're a girl
I lie in my bed, totally still
My eyes wide open, I'm in rapture
I don't believe this, I'm in love again
This wasn't supposed to happen
I lie in my bed, totally still
My eyes wide open, I'm in rapture
You've put a seed inside me
And while you're away
It's growing silently
Starts in my stomach (to be a life)
Embraces my insides
And about to reach my heart
This wasn't supposed to happen
This wasn't supposed to happen
Ég og hann, ég og hann við segjum
Ég og hann, ég og hann við finnum til
Ég og hann, ég og hann við bítum
Ég og hann, ég og hann við finnum til
This really hurts
Ég og hann, ég og hann við bítum
Ég og hann, ég og hann við finnum til
Ég og hann, ég og hann við bítum
Ég og hann, ég og hann við finnum til

Steevee you do an amazing job 👍. Bjork eh? pretty cool. Who's the presenter? Remember his voice can't remember the name , driving me nuts. 👍✌️❤️

@@stuartcarswell2815 course it is. Had a brain fog. Thanks man.👍✌️❤️
Thanks, I love u
I was 17 in 1991. Then and now has passed painfully fast. Don't waste a moment. Great track👍😁
Same age as me. That time definitely has gone too fast. It's crazy. 😮
1974? Me too
I saw the Sugarcubes back in 1987, opening for Echo and the Bunnymen. I had no idea who they were at the time, but they stole the show. Pure energy.
Omg, so jealous!! I was only 12 then and didn't discover either band until my late teens, but damn-- such a dynamic & unique era in music.
I saw the bunny bunnymen in the mid 80s. As much as I like their stuff they weren't particularly good live, not on that occasion.
Saw them with the Bunnymen too in 87!
@@9sheri9 That was the Summer I turned 17. Bjork would've only been 22 at that time. She jumped around the stage like a maniac. So much fun!
Red Rocks ?
One of those times when a song appears from out of nowhere on TV and you realise you're listening to something totally original which is just what you needed.
Don't Judge me but i'm a 50 year Old Black Man and I can't stop playing this over and over
Thanks for watching and commenting Jor
Cubes rule.
I'm 53 😂😂😂 the same thing😅 🎉🎉
Lekker man.
please world let 50 year old black people listen to Björk in peace.
My intro to Bjork. I listened to this in a small town in the Midwest in the 90's. Nobody got me. Her voice is amazing.
Thanks for watching and commenting Angel
You were good to recognize the fact that nobody got you and this did. Same for me. It’s good to discover what you get, and start to get who you are.
What’s was their to get about you. Like this was pretty mainstream. It was on the word for gods sake. I don’t think your as weird as you think you are.
@@mikebarkersvideoshop7932 she didn't say she was weird, she said nobody got her, that's about other people.....Bjork is great and this is a great song and performance. from a great show!
I saw them at a shit bar in Tempe Arizona
She's so talented and beautiful and the Sugarcubes were a great band
Thanks for watching and commenting on a few of my videos Richard.
Bjork is beautifully weird. An absolutely incredible artist, and vocalist.
An actual live performance on television, what a rare gem !!
They killed it!
How it was back in the 70’s…Midnight Special!
For all its faults in general, The Word was a great show for live music. Search out the great performance on the show from Throwing Muses, doing Bright Yellow Gun, for instance
@@hoagy_ytfc The Word is just a classic show.
Every week on the word.
I’m a soon to be 50 year old white Hispanic man and I can’t get enough of this.
30 years ago... Where did the time go? Damn.
Find a photo of you from 30 years ago. Stick to the bathroom mirror. Look at the photo, then your own reflection. Weep.
She actually sounds better here than on the record, incredible voice
To be honest I prefer her live performance stuff over the records. Thanks for watching and commenting
I was talking to my son about the responsibility of bass players to be bang on cuz bass mess ups really stand out. Such a good example of how to be bang on :)
Pure nostalgia! I remember watching this live on channel 4 as a 13 year old. It's still a fantastic song. Amazing voice
In a couple of years, this beautiful woman would go solo, release Debut and explode internationally big time. She was already a star right here.
This is like some crazy assed motown sound mixed with rap I love it!!
Back from the pub on a Friday night, flip on the tv and watch The Word. They had some great bands on that show in the early 90's, great stuff, thanks.
Post-pub Friday night TV in the 90s was incredible. Pints of Stella, back to mine, bucket bong and the TV goes on.
"This wasn't supposed to happen" my entire existence after 1991.
I always sing that when something falls on the floor
Cringe
@@ri260 You are cringe
25 year old Björk, cute as a button!
Bjorks range is off the hook insane! I love how you get little hints of her accent when she is singing combined
with that Jazzy/Bluesy throttle you hear in her voice. Woman has Pipes! Scottish TeeVee thanks a Ton for loading this video!
She's not really singing with a lot of range here
@@jasonmelo1974 a yeah, thanks for pointing that out I guess? Generally speaking she has pretty awesome range.
Vocal range and artistic range both. Force of nature
Absolutely great performance.
Glad you enjoyed it
I've always loved this song! I'm 48 now, I was 15 years old when this came out and remember it like yesterday. Nobody ever really knew what that blokes little rap was all about 😂 Bjork has such amazing vocals...love it still!
Those old pop shows weren't the least bit superficial! With deep and genuine people as hosts.
I was that police officer in the 90's working solo, singing along whilst stationary at the traffic lights in Adelaide, South Australia. Changed my whole outlook of music.
Hi Stephen If you are the person that I think you are, then this is something you sent me back in the 80s. ruclips.net/video/58ASFxlR8b4/видео.html
So this totally turned me on to the sugarcubes and I can't believe it's taken 43 years to find them. Thanks, from the bottom of my heart, Scottish TV 😉
You're very welcome!
I bumped into Bjork, with her young son in the underground techno record shop in London around 1997. She's tiny and other-worldly. I just was totally blown away, like in the presence of an alien.
That is so dam cool!
Bjork...Unique voice. Pure...raw...emotional...full of feelings. In my top 3
I miss the 90's
hi hats off to the drummer because this is one of THE most infectious grooves ever.
no wonder they're all getting down.
Gawd, I loved the 90s. So much great music.
hell of a voice ...she belts it out ...........
She ain’t lying. This wasn’t supposed to happen!!!
No cell phones. Everybody dancing. Seriously shaking their asses.
Chances of it being like this once more at any gig, zero.
Who cares? Let people enjoy the music they way they want.
@@ScottishTeeVee There have been a few gigs where phones are banned,...Noel Gallagher was one,...
@@westboundbadger I don't think that's enough. Anyone with a smartphone or any other tech invented after 1995 should be removed to a detention camp for liquidation.
@@ordinarymonkey Bit harsh and i think the family's wont take that well,..!
The Word, Dance Energy, BPM, Hit man and Her - why is there nothing like that anymore
And in 1993 *Pet Shop Boys* repeated the scenery and girl-dancers in their music video *"I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing"* 😉
Wow, real people singing playing real instruments, in a completely freaked out scenery. How arty and special in 2022.Great, low-fy video by the way.
Oh it is over 30 years old.. I feel old, I know when this was released and being played in clubs I frequented.
Jings crivvens- how good is this after 30 years????!!!! What a vocalist. What a tune. What a band.
Help ma boorb
I love every single word that leaves her mouth 🗣🎙
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Cameron
I'm crushing on the keyboard player.😂
Everything is beautiful in this video. I loved it. Bjor is a natural-born talented and gifted person.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Loved this song back then! So great to see a live version - her voice is awesome!!
Thanks for watching and commenting Antonio
The Sugarcubes were my favorite band of the mid and late 1980’s. Simply Original Band.
I met her in New Delhi airport in `93. She was travelling on her own, as was I. She wasn`t doing a great job of keeping anonymous though cos she wore a gold wig, lol. I just smiled at her and she smiled back. So beautiful and natural, what a talent she`s been all her life.
🇮🇸 sugarcube , ! ... björk .
They were so, SO good! Such a unique sound.
What a voice Bjork has , amazing.
I was hooked on The Sugarcubes from the moment I heard her voice. Thank you so much for this upload, and holy crap, it's been 30 years since this came out!!
Same, can still remember hearing Birthday for the first time (1988) and thinking ‘who is this woman’? Incredible
This is the most 90s' video I've ever seen.
that girl singer has potential, she should do a solo career
She already does
🤣🤣🤣
Oh dear 🤣🤣 always 1
🤣🤣🤣🤣
IndigZO - Nah, no way that would work.
So much more energy in this performance than in the recorded version. Bjork is so great here.
Yeah for sure. The album version is too fast for you to feel the vibe off of it.
i love the sugarcubes
Always been a tune. 2024
I saw them in 1989 with PiL, both supporting New Order. Same energy…blew my damn mind.
What great line up, you were very lucky. Was it Los Angeles 1989 ?
I saw that lineup in July
1989 in Milwaukee. Except there were 4 bands: Sugarcubes, PiL, New Order, and the Violent Femmes
@@peterhymas Summerfest at Marcus Amphitheater. Thanks for commenting Peter.
Same year as I saw them brighten up a thoroughly soaked Friday at Reading Festival. Steam rising from the crowd & Björk asking them why they had set fire to themselves. Brilliant weekend
@@peterhymas wow that is a great line up.
Siggi is a percussion genius and remains one of my biggest influences after all these years. He completely changed how I think about the drum kit and I'm still mystified by a lot of what he did with the cubes. Much more going on than it appears.
He bought my blender when I moved out of Madison in 1997, Nicest guy you could ever meet.
Yeah i was sad she lost the band when she lost einar
Amazing. I saw a triple bill with Sugarcubes, Public Image, and New Order was such a great show
Nice
EPIC
Whoa!
Saw this same lineup in Philly. Had forgotten the suger cubes were on the billing. Was a show to remember.
Happier times.
Haven’t heard this in a while. Brings back memories. I still have my Sugar Cubes CD’s. Saw them at the Beacon Theater in NYC in the late 80’s/early 90’s? Happened to by walking past the stage door after the show as they were coming out. Hung out briefly to say hello and watch them interact with us fans. Still really love that first record
I love everyone dancing! Great energy
A great band. Magga, The keyboardist is excellence!
:-)
Yes. Playing 2 Vintage legendary Synthesizers Roland D50 and Prophet VS, which I'm wanting to get both, this video I put on is like a sign wow.
This just never gets old
Remember it at the time.great song.
Outstanding. I was a Cubes fan. This why I fell in love with Bjork...
Feckin luv bjork great voice and as mad as a box of frogs would give anything to spend 10 minutes with her
I still have the cd single of this from when it came out.. it has a cardboard sleeve. The 90’s were truly great
Killing it with the uploads recently, this is gold!
Thank you, glad you are enjoying this strange musical journey.
She has always been able to bang out a tune! Legend.
Wow! She just kills it.
Great snare sound....
Thanks to the amazing John peel i first heard these doing a tune called "Birthday"..... if my memory serves me right
The dork, geek , nerd , got all
Together, this is excellent. I was year 12 at that time. I dig this.
☺️ this music is the best thing ever!
I used to love The Word!!!!
Yes. I love Sugarcubes. Wonderful band. And of course they can do it live. Great video
@🍄Personal Shaman🍄 lol, _completely_ diff ends of the musical spectrum but Lita defintely rocked out amongst the boys club of her time, she totally held her own. 🤘✌️
If we were more evolved as a species this would be the kind of "pop" music at the top of the charts
I love this band so much that I own two of their albums on CD. I will never get tired of listening to Sugarcubes!!! ✌🏻🇧🇷
Thanks for watching and commenting Tiago🙂
I’ve never heard of this before, awesome song. Björk really was/is a rare talent.

lol the dudes part always cracks me up. i admire the commitment/courage lol.
Que joven y linda estaba bjork
The song somehow captures the feeling of having a crush on someone. Especially the “I lie in my bed…” bit.
Thank you for watching and commenting, I am glad you enjoyed it
I bloody love Björk
Love the aesthetic of the show's stage!
I went to Bjork’s retrospective show at the Moma in NYC daily while it was open. Such a talented true artist. ❤️
fuck that's dope.
this epitomizes 90% of everything awesome about the 90s.
Brilliant video of a great band
We used to have an alternative station in the Phoenix area, KUKQ, that used to play this all the time. So many great songs from that era.
Fascinating ❤❤❤❤
Forgotten about this amazing tune, wow!! The beat is pumping
The contrast between Björk's and Einar's vocals really made this band sound quirly and charming (I remember when it was announced that they had split and that Björk was going solo, some pop journalist tossed in this cheeky comment in an article: "finally we're rid of Einar Örn!") ;)
Yes the contrast of an Angelic genius and an abrasive "talker".
They were for sure inspired by the B-52"s
@@scopeitout Absolutely 100 %.
@@scopeitout I always thought that as well.
For me, he was underrated. I liked his irreverence - it counterbalanced Bjork's intensity. Her voice can be full-on. Sometimes that's the best thing about her music and sometimes it's the worst. She does occasionally stray into Alanis Morisette self-indulgence: Showboating. Only occasionally. She's mostly great - extremely talented.
We used to play this song in one of my little garage bands in the 90's. What a magical time.
She has such a powerful voice
What were we even worried about back then? What happened while we were asleep?
I see this as the glorious sounds that could have dominated 90's music if all that grunge and apathy-rock hadn't come along.
Its live performances like this that make me appreciate what a good singer she was.
When the world was normal and art was great. Its all gone and will never come back.
Oh wow!
Bjork!
This hit hard bro I’ve been missing out
Now we're all well into our 50's ....
