Hello, I'm Suzanne Allard, and online art teacher and painter of colorful florals and abstracts and an encouraging creativity teacher. I'm on a mission to prove that we ALL have a creative spirit that wants to express itself in one way, shape or form. Of course, there are many ways to create but if you are here that means that painting or color or texture (or all the above) are calling to you. I didn't start painting until around 50 years old and I learned pretty much everything in online painting courses.

Student Testimonial from Sonalee: "Suzanne is an engaging and encouraging instructor. At every step, I felt championed to try something new and to see where it takes me. She helped me approach this class as a learning opportunity while enjoying the process. Anytime I had a question, Suzanne provided prompt and helpful advice. This class is recommended for artists at all levels. I learned a lot about the materials needed, which Suzanne kept simple and accessible. I am looking forward to taking other classes by Suzanne Allard, and would recommend her classes to anyone who enjoys the process of creating colorful art!" Хобби
Tooli has now come out with the most incredible assortments of colors---"Wildflowers" for instance, which is gorgeous. A lot has happened in the last year and they've really expanded! Thanks for the video!Lynn in NYC
Just a suggestion but you may consider lowering the brightness of your lamp (when there’s not much color being put down) when doing things on white paper etc so it’s much more visible. It may help the viewer to see what is being drawn or swatched. Great video. I’ve never had this brand. I’m just getting started w paint markers and I love them so far
Thanks for the feedback!
So helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so very much. I know you have a lot going on with the move and you still took the time to make this review. I already placed an order. Since I have bright Posca colors I order the pastels. Then I will be buying the greens, red, blues, yellows and maybe the grays in that order. Definitely if tooli-art would make an artist bundle, it would be amazing. Because with the following you have, the bundles will no doubt sell.
I just ordered the thinner green ones so I'll probably show them in a video soon. Thanks for watching!
have yall tried pintar?
Hi Suzanne - I can’t get enough of your videos, Skillshare, lessons…. You really are such a generous and great teacher. Thank you! Ok - I have trouble with the fine Posca’s - they blob when I use them (on the paper/canvas). It feels like I use light pressure and it still “blobs” out! Are the thin Tooli’s better? Maybe I have a heavy hand but it drives me a little bonkers. I so love the Tooli’s because of the variety of colors - - I’m with you!
That's lovely to hear! I feel the same way about the fine Posca's. so far so good on the Tooli. I think because it's a different tip type.
Love this!
Thank you!
Thank you Suzanne - I was considering buying some acrylic pens- mindful of my budget I will give these a go. Love Posca but they are sooooooo expensive!
You are so welcome! Tooli's are great!
I bought the Earth&Skin and Blue sets since watching this video. Thank You for the review! 9:07 The name of the set is at the bottom of each pen to help know which color is which.
Oh yay!
Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome!
I have pretty much the full posca range. when I went to the tooli art storefront and saw the pro range I was in heavennnn!! I'm not sure if its just me(I work on wood, chalkboards, acrylic ect) and sometimes when I go to layer them the tips completely dry up and it takes a lot of finessing to get it going again
Interesting, I haven't found that but I don't use them on anything but paper....
Great review! Thank you for sharing. Do you have tutorials on starting and utilizing sketchbooks? 🍃🌷🍃
I'm glad you liked it! The best class I have on that is on sale now: Sketchbook class:

I just ordered the essential extra fine pack as an alternative to posca markers. I want to experiment with acrylic paint pens but I'm a broke 17 year old and there is no way I could buy enough posca colora to do the project I have in mind. I hope they work well! Do you know if it's possibek to order bigger tips to change the tip size or are the tips permanent/unchangeable? Thanks!
You can't put bigger tips in the smaller markers. I hope you like them!
Do you store your markers upright, point down, or on their sides? Thank you. Love your work.
Well, all the manufacturers recommend on the side but I have to admit that I sometimes do point down.
@Suzanne Allard Design Thank you. Sometimes the tips of my markers get dried out and sticky. I don't get to use them as often as I like, because I do mostly pottery. But I love to paint also. 😀
I’m so glad I found your channel Suzanne, I love your work. I was looking for reviews on the Tooli-art acrylic pens, but also what is the best paper to use with them, or any other acrylic markers. I have brush tip acrylic pens mostly, because I can’t always do so much shaking and prepping, and it’s too bad because these Tooli pens have beautiful colors. But I’m older and my hands not that strong anymore. In my experience I think marker paper or a smooth card-stock works better with these, even the watercolor paper absorbs the color too much. Or just smooth paper. The sketchbook you showed here, does it have smooth paper? If it’s not the right paper, when it dries the color becomes too chalky. So, I wanted your opinion, what do you think? Thank you so much,Judith
Hi Judith, sorry for the late reply, I'm traveling in Portugal! Smooth paper does help. Some of my sketchbooks are watercolor paper with texture and some are mixed media. I'm using the markers over paintings usually so not directly on rough paper. Mixed media is the best paper though and the Moleskine art journal is very smooth.

@@SuzanneAllardDesign Thank you Suzanne for responding, wow Portugal must be beautiful. That’s a very nice sketchbook, unfortunately I either color in coloring books ( but only with pencils, the paper in those books is very thin) or I print line art and color it on watercolor paper, marker paper or something nice. I can’t draw, just color so I don’t use sketchbooks. I think I realized first acrylic pens/ markers a really smooth paper works well but also thick enough or a hot press watercolor paper. Actually somebody else suggested Borden&Riley Paris Pad,it’s 176 GSM. In fact I just git it from Amazon and it’s very nice for acrylic pens, it’s more like a marker paper, really smooth but thicker so it works well. Wish you the best and thank you again
Do the toolis nibs unscrew? I’m thinking of refilling these with high flow acrylic.
the nibs just pull out and can be pushed back in. That would be an interesting experiment! Let me know how it goes.
Suzanne can you teach us / me how to paint a Zinnia the way you do?! Please
I don't know which Zinnia you mean?
Thank you. I hadn’t heard of these, but I’ll look into them as I bought some acrylic markers and they’re awful. An unknown brand. These look fabulous!
Yes, I've been too much money on bad markers lol.
does the medium tooli art seem to hold more ink? they only cost 2 dollars more where i live and i would rather buy the bigger sized nib (although i prefer the xs) if they seem to have more ink
Yes, they have more ink than the smaller ones.
Does the medium pen with more ink fit an xf nib replacement??
These look amazing - thank you for the review! Do they dry matte? Do you know if they are vegan and cruelty free? Thanks again - love your videos and newsletters 💕🕊️!
Update: I received an answer from the company ❤ “Thank you for your message. Yes, our products are vegan and cruelty free. There is no use of any kind of animal products in our products.”
Yes they do dry matte! Thanks for sharing the update!
@@SuzanneAllardDesign Great! I’m excited to try them🥰
Personally, I find these easier to start than Posca. I actually gave all my Posca away after getting the entire Tooli Art collections. I love these Paint Pens and they have some great colors too
that's good to know. I have trouble with them getting clogged. I remove the tip and rinse in water but that doesn't always work. The colors are SO much better with Tooli
@7:30 timestamp -
They do sell packs of 4 of a single color of your choice. Found it on their website today
Oh, that must be new - awesome!
@@SuzanneAllardDesign sounds like they are listening to their clients! :) good stuff~
I have the earth tones and reds- at some point I'd like the greens. I'm very happy with them.
Good to hear!
